Rumors are abound on the Internet today because of a small report on Dark Horizons stating that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered the role of an ‘evil witch’ in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
According to Dark Horizons
:
During CNBC News last night, it was apparently revealed that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered a part in the fifth Harry Potter movie The Order of the Phoenix with the character described only as an "evil witch", best guess for now is the role of Bellatrix. She apparently hasn't signed yet, but is thinking about it. Filming begins sometime next year.
We are currently trying to find out if there is any truth to this, but I decided to post the story since so many other Harry Potter sites are doing so. As with all unconfirmed casting news, please treat this as a rumor. As soon as we hear official news we will post it.
UPDATE: We have just received word from Warner Bros.:
There is absolutely no truth in that rumor whatsoever.

I like Elizabeth Hurley, but I think that she would be too pretty to play the evil witch (probably Bellatrix). Whenever her appearance is commented on, the book mentions that you can only see traces of how attractive she was in the past.

Okay, i don't want to sound unkind on my very first post but i really am not that keen on Liz Hurley and i just can't see her in the role of Bellatrix (and that seems to be the most likely for her to be auditioning for) I just don't think she has enouh substance, Bella is supposed to be this brilliant, yet insane witch who looks as though she used to be beautiful. My ideal choice would be Miranda Otto (Eowyn from Lord of the Rings) or Helena Bonham-Carter (Fight Club and Olivia in Twelfth Night). But if Liz Hurley gets it I'm sure it will be okay

Rumor indeed! Yet...I think that she would be perfect in the part. Bellatrix (think "Bella" as in beautiful) was a beauty before the evil of Voldemort poisoned her heart and her good looks. Also, Azkaban had to be a sure deterioration of any remaining beauty...Hurley is absolutely lovely and I'm sure that the makeup people will be able to evil-her-up enough to let just a glimmer of her true beauty shine through. I'll be crossing my fingers that this one is real!

I think that she would be good but everything that I've seen her in before she plays an annoying character so I would be afraid that she would make Bellatrix very annoying. Plus, I like it when they cast actors whom I have never heard of before. It's nice to see fresh faces.
