Rumors are abound on the Internet today because of a small report on Dark Horizons stating that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered the role of an ‘evil witch’ in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
According to Dark Horizons
:
During CNBC News last night, it was apparently revealed that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered a part in the fifth Harry Potter movie The Order of the Phoenix with the character described only as an "evil witch", best guess for now is the role of Bellatrix. She apparently hasn't signed yet, but is thinking about it. Filming begins sometime next year.
We are currently trying to find out if there is any truth to this, but I decided to post the story since so many other Harry Potter sites are doing so. As with all unconfirmed casting news, please treat this as a rumor. As soon as we hear official news we will post it.
UPDATE: We have just received word from Warner Bros.:
There is absolutely no truth in that rumor whatsoever.

I've saw bedazzled... and while she played the devil, it was more a comedy and she wasnt scary or anything. Surely they can find a better and perhaps even less well known actress more fitting for the role?

Was Bellatrix ever said to be that pretty? I'm confused now. I guess they will be making the right chioce and if not they have a while to fix it.

I don't think Elizabeth Hurley will be a problem in the role of Bellatrix. Her looks can be fixed by makeup. Her acting, I really do not know about that but ever there is a problem, there's nothing that can't be fixed by a good director. Anyway, she is British and that's a big factor for her and she is known already and Warner Bros can use that to get additional people to watch the movie.

Compared to the other actors they have had in the HP movies to date, I think this is rather odd personally. But have to have to faith that the director and casting crew know what they're doing. I just wish we could hear some confirmation about the main trio and whether it will be the same actors or not. It makes me worry that they are offering other actors parts already in OoTP but they haven't sealed anything with Dan, Emma, and Rupert.

As for the trio, I think it will still be the original three. Dan and Rupert don't seem to be a problem. It is Emma I think that will pose a problem. I think that she needed extra convincing to take her part in GoF. But I also hope that the 3 will finish the series. Anyways, they were already forced to do a Dumbledore change and if it the situation requires, they might also find a replacement for any of the 3.
