Rumors are abound on the Internet today because of a small report on Dark Horizons stating that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered the role of an ‘evil witch’ in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
According to Dark Horizons
:
During CNBC News last night, it was apparently revealed that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered a part in the fifth Harry Potter movie The Order of the Phoenix with the character described only as an "evil witch", best guess for now is the role of Bellatrix. She apparently hasn't signed yet, but is thinking about it. Filming begins sometime next year.
We are currently trying to find out if there is any truth to this, but I decided to post the story since so many other Harry Potter sites are doing so. As with all unconfirmed casting news, please treat this as a rumor. As soon as we hear official news we will post it.
UPDATE: We have just received word from Warner Bros.:
There is absolutely no truth in that rumor whatsoever.

I've never really liked her, she always seems to play the same roles in every movie. But I actually think that she could pull off the role of Bellatrix, though. I can certainloy picture Bellatrix as looking like her. Can't wait for the movie!

I realized after I suggested the idea, though, that Mrs. Malfoy must already be cast as she's in Goblet of Fire. But I could still see Narcissa as some sort of actress like her!

I don't remember Mrs. Malfoy being in the 5th book, only in the 4th book. If Elizabeth Hurley is playing an evil which I think it is most likely Bellatrix. That will be a very difficult role to play as it requires someone who can be both very evil and very insane without being comically insane.

it could be...and this is a stretch...that she could be the younger version of Sirius' mother...if the painting of her was from when she was younger.
But I think Bellatrix would fit her. Flash backs earlier on in the pensive...she wouldn't be all yucky looking like she would be towards the end of OotP. And all that would require would be some eye makeup to darken under her eyes...and something to make her cheeks look more sunken. And rat-tease the hair up a bit.
It could really work.

If the trio doesn't come back for OotP and they get Hurley for Bella, then I'm not going to spend my $$$ to go to and watch it in a movie theater. I might just rent it on video.
