Rumors are abound on the Internet today because of a small report on Dark Horizons stating that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered the role of an ‘evil witch’ in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
According to Dark Horizons
:
During CNBC News last night, it was apparently revealed that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered a part in the fifth Harry Potter movie The Order of the Phoenix with the character described only as an "evil witch", best guess for now is the role of Bellatrix. She apparently hasn't signed yet, but is thinking about it. Filming begins sometime next year.
We are currently trying to find out if there is any truth to this, but I decided to post the story since so many other Harry Potter sites are doing so. As with all unconfirmed casting news, please treat this as a rumor. As soon as we hear official news we will post it.
UPDATE: We have just received word from Warner Bros.:
There is absolutely no truth in that rumor whatsoever.

Er.... I never really imagined Bellatrix to look anything like Elizabeth Hurley. Yet again move make-up does wonders... Maybe I'm wrong, others may be able to picture her as Bellatrix but I can't. Oh well, I guess we will have to wait for WB to say if this rumor is true or not.

This is exciting news! I think she would be great as Umbridge or LeStrange. Although I'm not sure if that is the image I had in mind, but they can make anything work if they want a particular person to play a specific part.

Wow. That's aweful. I would hope that they would get a more serious actor to play the character that kills Sirius. She's only played roles where an attractive body was essential. I really hope this is only rumor.

Hm. I didn't even think they had starting casting for OotP yet. I'm treating this as a rumor until someone confirms something. If she is going to be Bellatrix though, I think she'd be a good one. I think I remember reading that Bellatrix was supposed to have been attractive before Azkaban. And she's a good actress, too.

I think she could look the part, but I can't picture her playing the part. She doesn't strike me as evil looking. Even in that crappy movie Bedazzled she played the devil and she was still nice. I was picturing more of a Catherine Zeta-Jones anyway.
But shouldn't they have a Bellatrix for GoF? I guess that's another thing they cut out.
