Elizabeth Hurley for 'Order of the Phoenix'? Popular (15195)

Source: Dark Horizons

Rumors are abound on the Internet today because of a small report on Dark Horizons stating that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered the role of an ‘evil witch’ in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

According to Dark Horizonsopens in new window:

During CNBC News last night, it was apparently revealed that Elizabeth Hurleyopens in new window has been offered a part in the fifth Harry Potter movie The Order of the Phoenix with the character described only as an "evil witch", best guess for now is the role of Bellatrix. She apparently hasn't signed yet, but is thinking about it. Filming begins sometime next year.

We are currently trying to find out if there is any truth to this, but I decided to post the story since so many other Harry Potter sites are doing so. As with all unconfirmed casting news, please treat this as a rumor. As soon as we hear official news we will post it.

UPDATE: We have just received word from Warner Bros.:

There is absolutely no truth in that rumor whatsoever.

Thestral Eyes, yes, hahaha, this is really funny, because you're bringing back my memory of all the things I loathed about the film. The dementors were one of my biggest iffs about the film-the zooming. As you remarkably took all the thoughts out of my head and stated them. The CGI werewolf was one of the many disappointments, and the extreme lack of Quidditch, not to mention the changes in the locations (the courtyard at Hogwarts was different-true, the huge clock swinging back and forth was really cool, but not in the other films...) and Hagrid's hut. Does anyone else ever recall it being on that huge steep cliff? Another point I have to stress is the aggravating change of directors. What happened, did each director just decide one film was enough?! I'm so angry that one director didn't stick with the whole series. The films are going to change inexplissably (wow, that was wrong spelling!) and another point, the knight bus. the weird music that went with it. Did the Knight Bus annoy the bejesus out of anyone else?

Wow, the articles are starting to surface again about Liz Hurley being asked to join OOTP as Bellatrix Lestrange. Yet WB debunked the rumor. I guess we are going to wait and see.

I don't think that it would be taht bad of a casting. I just hoped that Bellatrix would be a lot uglier? hehe. Anywayz, whatever decision they make, I totally back it up as long as none of the plot lines are totally squashed.

Awwww it's a shame it's not true I could see Elizabeth Hurley as Bellatrix. But I couldn't see her as Umbridge. I could possibly see her as Mrs. Malfoy too, but she didn't really have a part in Order of the Phoenix did she?

I'm glad Elizabeth Hurley won't be in the movie. It would be too distracting to have such a big name popular actress in such a small role. I like that many of the cast started out out as unknown actors. It allows us a viewers to really believe them as their characters as opposed to seeing them as themselves.

Elizabeth Hurley played the devil in Bedazzled with Brendan Frasier. She was really good; she fit the part. I can see her playing an evil witch but I really wouldn't like it if she got the part because the movies would seem ruined because of her sex appeal and stuff. Plus, these movies don't really seem like the right thing for her. I am glad the rumors aren't true.

I'm kind of glad it's not true. I can't picture her as Belltrix. She's too famous. See not many of the Harry Potter characters were wellknown and I liked that.

Scratch my last Bellatrix-casting-rumor comment; I think I'd like Elizabeth Hurley better for the part. I think with the proper make-up, she could look gaunt and starved, yet have a bit of beauty left over from pre-Azkaban. Of course, my opinion is highly biased; Bella's my favorite character, and I'm highly sympathetic towards her, which is probably why I want to have as much pre-Azkaban beauty leftover as possible. But I think Helen McCrory would do well too.
