Rumors are abound on the Internet today because of a small report on Dark Horizons stating that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered the role of an ‘evil witch’ in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
According to Dark Horizons
:
During CNBC News last night, it was apparently revealed that Elizabeth Hurley has been offered a part in the fifth Harry Potter movie The Order of the Phoenix with the character described only as an "evil witch", best guess for now is the role of Bellatrix. She apparently hasn't signed yet, but is thinking about it. Filming begins sometime next year.
We are currently trying to find out if there is any truth to this, but I decided to post the story since so many other Harry Potter sites are doing so. As with all unconfirmed casting news, please treat this as a rumor. As soon as we hear official news we will post it.
UPDATE: We have just received word from Warner Bros.:
There is absolutely no truth in that rumor whatsoever.

I think Liz Hurley would be a great Bellatrix. Isn't Bellatrix supposed to be a beautful woman, at least before she got sent to Azkaban. And I always did imagine Bella to be a bit regal looking.

My first choice for Bella has always been Helena Bonham Carter. She's the one I always pictured since I finished reading the book. She has the eyes I picture Bella having. And seeing her and Gary Oldman would just be cool.
A distant second would be Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I can't see Hurley as Bellatrix - but maybe Umbridge, that could work.
I hope she doesn't take the role - she's a lousy actor who I don't think could potray the depth required for a Harry Potter character.

Elizabeth Hurley is actually a pretty good potential choice for Bellatrix. She has played evil before in "Bedazzled," although that wasn't quite as evil as Bellatrix. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the casting for the fifth film goes...
