The Ron Weasley actor told French magazine One he has little desire to couple with Hermione Granger in upcoming Harry Potter movies.

"Everyone expects that Ron and Hermione will go out," said Rupert Grint, "but I don't think that would be an effective finish. I must say that this idea doesn't delight me... At the moment, I have no desire to play the romantic scenes. I already had a lot of trouble with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, then be embarrassed."

Grint also discussed what he'd like to do outside of acting, how similar he and Ron are when it comes to finishing homework, and whether or not he'll be sticking around for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A full translationopens in new window can be seen on Veritaserum.

Rupert was also snapped by photographers outside a recent filming of British television show An Audience with Al Murray, for which several Weasley family members apparently appeared:

Finally, rounding out Rupert news, the actor is in negotiations to star in a new film, Driving Lessons, according to the Rod Hall Agency Ltd. and Actual Management. Veritaserum got confirmationopens in new window from a representative, who said: "It is the early days but I can confirm we are in negotiations for Rupert to star in the movie, due to shoot later this year."

Ah ha, I finally understand why I did French! I could understand the whole thing - sorry but I'm really quite excited about that! I think the R/Hr thing will cetainly carry on in the films though, they've hinted at it so it would be strange to back track. I have to say though, his hair is getting to the grungy stage. It looks better a bit longer but it's going too far now!

Cool! I hope that all the actors stay for OOTP. I couldn't imagine the movie without them! I agree with him, I don't want to see Ron and Hermione get together! I would rather see Harry and Hermione! Hahaha...

I really don't like Ruppert Grint, he's a bit arogant and childish. He should focus more on his work and I'm shocked he hasn't read OOTP

Has Rupert gone crazy? He doesn't want to keep doing the movies and doesn't want to kiss Emma! Hopefully it's all temporary insanity.

Oh, he's so cute. It's funny he doesn't want to do romance scenes. His hair is really growing, but moving on... If he does decide to do the movie, how is going to do OotP? It might conflict. And since he's underage and goes to school, and blah blah....He might be overwhelmed. But, we'll see and hope he gets to stay around for the next HP movie. He has to be Wheezy, or else everyone else might seem weird.

I'm not impressed with him. What a stinky attitude. These HP movies have got him where he is today. He needs to be a bit more grateful. If he's a professional, then too bad if he doesn't want to do those scenes with Hermione - sounds like he's in a tiff with the actress.

Hi again everyone. Does anyone know when the article was dated?? Most of the pictures were of POA, not GOF. The interview was probably done near the beginning or around the middle of filming GOF. He did mention that he wanted to do all of the movies at the DVD launch, so I am guessing the article was done before. Guys don't be so hard on Rupert. There probably won't be any R/Hr romance (if any) till the end of the sixth or seventh books. I admit he is probably very grateful for his part in HP, but he is still dealing with adolensence. If he sticks around for the last two after OOTP, he will be over this stage.

The OFFICIAL translation :
"Everyone expects that Ron and Hermione will go out, but I don't think that would be an effective finish. I must say that this idea doesn't delight me... At the moment, I have no desire to play the romantic scenes. I already had a lot of trouble with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, then be embarrassed."

My OWN translation :
"Everyone expects that Ron and Hermione will go out, and I think that's indeed what's gonna happen. I must say that this idea doesn't delight me... At the moment, I have no desire to play the romantic scenes. I already had a lot of trouvle3 with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, so to actually kiss her..."

It's a bit different...

Ron&Hermione4Ever says:

I really hope Rupert stays Ron throughout the series. I hope all the characters stay with their parts throughout the series. It just wouldn't seem right with other people playing the parts. I mean I would understand if there were a death or something else you couldn't prevent, like with Dumbledore, but other than that I think everyone should keep their parts.
I really hope there is a romance between Ron and Hermione too. I just think he was being a tipical boy when he said, "...I don't think that would be an effective finish." You know...to make himself feel better. He will just have to get over the "not wanting to do romance scenes" thing because J.K. has definately put that element into the books and if it's not in the movies, then it won't seem right.

Well I love Rupert, but I am very disappointed in him that he hasn't read OOTP! That really came as a shock to me because he was the most enthusiastic when the films started. I recall him talking about his love for the books before he knew there was going to be a movie. I am the same age as him, and I see how guys are at that age so it doesn't surprise me that he is lazy about some things, but not reading the 5th book is a shocker. Also, those pictures are not very flattering. He looks great, but they are just bad shots. Oh well, I hope he reads OOTP soon!!! (and I also am hoping more than anything that the whole cast will be signed on again for the 5th film!!!)

I don't think that he is right about the Ron and Hermione thing, but I do wish he was! Harry and Hermione over the last few books seem to have developed a brother sister relationship. As much as I hope for it to be another way it probably won't happen. I geuss you could say I'm a reluctant follower of the Ron and Hermione ship. I do hope Rupert stays as Ron though he is great. If they break up the original cast I will be very upset.

Actually, the translation's a bit off. It says "embrasser", which means "hug", meaning that he said that he had "A lot of trouble with some scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban where I had to hold Emma's hand, then hug her."

Doesn't mean he wasn't embarrassed about it, though. Hee.

Dr. Nicole says:

blau girl you are right, the person who translated the article got the french verbs "embrasser: to embrace" and "embarasser: to be embarrassed" mixed up. A vowel can change the definition of the word. So he had trouble holding Emma's hand and then hugging her. It is easy to get verbs mixed up. So everyone relax, the person who translated this article needs to try a little harder in understanding French.
