The Ron Weasley actor told French magazine One he has little desire to couple with Hermione Granger in upcoming Harry Potter movies.
"Everyone expects that Ron and Hermione will go out," said Rupert Grint, "but I don't think that would be an effective finish. I must say that this idea doesn't delight me... At the moment, I have no desire to play the romantic scenes. I already had a lot of trouble with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, then be embarrassed."

Grint also discussed what he'd like to do outside of acting, how similar he and Ron are when it comes to finishing homework, and whether or not he'll be sticking around for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A full translation can be seen on Veritaserum.
Rupert was also snapped by photographers outside a recent filming of British television show An Audience with Al Murray, for which several Weasley family members apparently appeared:

Finally, rounding out Rupert news, the actor is in negotiations to star in a new film, Driving Lessons, according to the Rod Hall Agency Ltd. and Actual Management. Veritaserum got confirmation from a representative, who said: "It is the early days but I can confirm we are in negotiations for Rupert to star in the movie, due to shoot later this year."

And, Rupert is going to have to work with Emma, because J.K. is clearly moving towards putting Ron and Hermione together!

I can't believe he actually dressed up as a girl for his audition. I don't know why he would think that Mike Meyers would be in a Harry Potter movie. The only part he would be good as would be Peeves (or Umbridge...he,he,he.) I can't imagine him as a mean character; he's just to nice!

It was kind of easy to pick up in the interview on the DVD that he wasn't comfortable with the more 'intimate' scenes with Emma, but I hope he can rally himself to pull it off, because I think that's where JKR is going with the books. I'd hate to see a new Ron at this stage of the game...or a new Hermoine or Harry. I do get the impression though, that if Rupert gets 'bored' with the whole thing, he'll be 'out of there'. But that would be a pity.

I actually think that he looks to old to play Ron now anyway. I hope he dosn't play Ron in 'Phoenix.' I think that Ron and Hermione will get together because it has been building throughout the books. He is an actor and if the script calls for a romantic scene then he should be mature enough to film one. He seems kinda immature to me now. How sad!

Wow! Thatwas a great interview. Yeah he doesn't seem the type to like to smooch onscreen. From all three he seems to be the most down-to-earth to me. (Not that dan and emma aren't) I didn't expect him to be the 1st of the trio to move on and do other films besides hp. you would usually expect the main character (meaning dan) to be 1st.

I do think, as AJ said, that (well, besides just seeming generally shy), Rupert no doubt sees Emma as a close friend or even a sister (as Dan has said she is to him), which I think would definitely make the romantic scenes very tough to do!
I agree totally with Elishka, who pointed out that Rupert likely dropped the "if I'm in The Order of the Phoenix" because he is currently in salary negotiations for that role. Why should he tip his hand? He should get more money as the films progress. It's inflation. And it's hard for the WB to justify saying no when the films make such a large amount of money at the box office. I think some "side-kicky" issues come up there too, as I'm sure Dan still makes the most of the trio, yet we'd all be crushed if [i]any[i/] of them didn't return.
By the way, Rupert, Mike Myers is Canadian, not American! But I guess that still precludes him from being in an HP film! (Hummmmm...unless a wacky Canadian wizard shows up in HBP or #7!)

I bet it would be hard for Rupert to film the more romantic scenes with Emma since they have talked about feeling like each other's siblings. It's great that he has other projects in the works and he can step out of Ron's shoes and be creative with a new character.

I am glad to read that he is working on being in another film. It is always good to diversify... what worries me is that he will find other films more to his liking than the HP series and stop filming with WB.
