The Ron Weasley actor told French magazine One he has little desire to couple with Hermione Granger in upcoming Harry Potter movies.

"Everyone expects that Ron and Hermione will go out," said Rupert Grint, "but I don't think that would be an effective finish. I must say that this idea doesn't delight me... At the moment, I have no desire to play the romantic scenes. I already had a lot of trouble with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, then be embarrassed."

Grint also discussed what he'd like to do outside of acting, how similar he and Ron are when it comes to finishing homework, and whether or not he'll be sticking around for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A full translationopens in new window can be seen on Veritaserum.

Rupert was also snapped by photographers outside a recent filming of British television show An Audience with Al Murray, for which several Weasley family members apparently appeared:

You go Rupert! Yeah, I don't think Ron/Hermione would be a good ending either. I mean, yeah, it was kinda heading that Hermione and either Ron or Harry would go out, happens all the times with friends, but they should remain just that, friends.

Oh I hope he stays for OotP. It would be a shame for him not to be in it. I really think there is going to be a Ron/Hermione pairing though. JKR has hinted as much. If he's that uncomfortable with it then it might be better if as the characters get older, they find someone new. Because an actors uncomfortableness can carry through filming and alter the mood of the film. It's possible to get past the awkwardness--- I had to get over the embarrasment when rehersing for Romeo and Juliet where I was Juliet and had to kiss Romeo (they'd cast a particular ugly Romeo at that and he was a horrid kisser so it made things all the more uncomfortable). To make things more weird was the fact that this particular Romeo and Juliet production was a modern interpretation. They'd kept the language the same but the romance scenes were a little less desireable
