The Ron Weasley actor told French magazine One he has little desire to couple with Hermione Granger in upcoming Harry Potter movies.
"Everyone expects that Ron and Hermione will go out," said Rupert Grint, "but I don't think that would be an effective finish. I must say that this idea doesn't delight me... At the moment, I have no desire to play the romantic scenes. I already had a lot of trouble with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, then be embarrassed."

Grint also discussed what he'd like to do outside of acting, how similar he and Ron are when it comes to finishing homework, and whether or not he'll be sticking around for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A full translation
can be seen on Veritaserum.
Rupert was also snapped by photographers outside a recent filming of British television show An Audience with Al Murray, for which several Weasley family members apparently appeared:

Finally, rounding out Rupert news, the actor is in negotiations to star in a new film, Driving Lessons, according to the Rod Hall Agency Ltd. and Actual Management. Veritaserum got confirmation
from a representative, who said: "It is the early days but I can confirm we are in negotiations for Rupert to star in the movie, due to shoot later this year."

Well I personally wouldn't like to see a Ron/Hermione relationship form. But that is just my opinion. I just hope he stays for the rest of the movies! He is a great Ron, and things wouldn't be the same!

I think I can understand why Rupert Grint might not like to play Ron Weasley for the rest of his life. It's a sidekick role, after all. But I think he'd not be wise to leave the series of films at this stage. The trio are quite popular and people would really notice if someone else were playing the part of Ron. Maybe all of this talk of perhaps not being in OotP is just a way of helping his managers to negotiate his salary for that film. After all, if there is enough uproar about Rupert leaving, there is a better chance that they'll pay more to him for being in the film. And I don't blame Rupert one bit!!!
I also don't blame him for not wanting to play any romantic scenes. With as much grief that was given to Emma Watson just for being seen holding Dan Radcliffe's hand in a photo, I should think Rupert Grint would want to avoid being hit by the same mud-slinging, jealous fans.

Haha, I love that he's a bit lazy! Describes that he's a real teenager. And especially that he was simply too lazy to go get his hair cut and wasn't just following a trend. I really hope he keeps playing Ron.. but it would be really neat to see him play a different role.

The whole cast should stay to finsh out the series. It's funny he doesn't want Ron and Hermione to get togather, I wonder if JKR will take that into consideration. I'm looking forward to seeing him outside HP series. Great Pics.

This bit of the article made me laugh...
For quite a while, you've had longer hair than usual. What motivated you to change your look?
Nothing at all; it's just my natural laziness! [laughs] After Prisoner of Azkaban shooting, I was simply too lazy to go to the hairdresser. When the producers saw my new cut, they demanded that I keep it for Goblet of Fire. They thought that it was similar to Ron's personality. This decision is fine with me, since I never was fond of cutting my hair!
There's also a part where you he talks about how he hasn't finished the fifth book yet! Everyone should read it - Rupert is quite a funny guy.

Rupert not being in OOTP? Now there's something I would extremely protest against. They can't change the characters now!

I suppose that's one reason why I'd never be an actress- I could never handle the romance scenes. As for holding someone's hand and being embarrassed... I'd probably be embarrassed anyway, I can definitely relate with Rupert's uncomfortableness. That's too bad about him being uncomfortable, though we don't really know what will happen until the sixth book comes out...

I do hope he sticks around. He's good at it and he seems just awkward enough to be plausible around Hermione.

This interview makes me laugh. He's lazy and doesn't want Ron and Hermione to get together in the off chance he would have to play the part of Ron. And he didn't even read all of the books. Oh RupertGrint! You make me laugh!

Cute interview. But they are all making me nervous by not stating for certain whether the main actors are going to be filming OotP, it's set to start shooting in less than a year, so usually everyone would have already been contracted by now. Very strange, but I am preparing myself for the possibility that we might have a very different trio in the last three movies, though I very seriously hope not!

I really hope that he stays on, he plays Ron very well! Even though the character has been reduced to the comic relief by the scriptwriter.

I'm very disappointed with this artical.. Rupert seems whiney or something.. he should be sooo happy and grateful of what job he has..
"I already had a lot of trouble with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, then be embarrassed."
I think someone should go knock some sense into him for being so picky.

Interesting interview. I'm glad they translated it for the non-French speakers. I can't believe that Rupert hasn't finished reading OotP! That's really pretty crazy since it's been almost two years since it came out. It's also surprising that he has no desire to play the Ron/Hermione romance. I would think most boys his age would kill to even be in a scene with Emma Watson, but I guess he is the exception. It is so difficult to understand how the male mind works, anyway. :-P At least for us girls.
