The Ron Weasley actor told French magazine One he has little desire to couple with Hermione Granger in upcoming Harry Potter movies.
"Everyone expects that Ron and Hermione will go out," said Rupert Grint, "but I don't think that would be an effective finish. I must say that this idea doesn't delight me... At the moment, I have no desire to play the romantic scenes. I already had a lot of trouble with certain scenes in Prisoner of Azkaban in which I had to hold Emma's hand, then be embarrassed."

Grint also discussed what he'd like to do outside of acting, how similar he and Ron are when it comes to finishing homework, and whether or not he'll be sticking around for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. A full translation
can be seen on Veritaserum.
Rupert was also snapped by photographers outside a recent filming of British television show An Audience with Al Murray, for which several Weasley family members apparently appeared:

.
Finally, rounding out Rupert news, the actor is in negotiations to star in a new film, Driving Lessons, according to the Rod Hall Agency Ltd. and Actual Management. Veritaserum got confirmation
from a representative, who said: "It is the early days but I can confirm we are in negotiations for Rupert to star in the movie, due to shoot later this year."

Interesting interview. I'm glad they translated it for the non-French speakers. I can't believe that Rupert hasn't finished reading OotP! That's really pretty crazy since it's been almost two years since it came out. It's also surprising that he has no desire to play the Ron/Hermione romance. I would think most boys his age would kill to even be in a scene with Emma Watson, but I guess he is the exception. It is so difficult to understand how the male mind works, anyway. :-P At least for us girls.

Pictures and interview of Rubert was great.
I hope he play Ron in OoTP and in other two HP-movies.
I not want that someone else take his place.
It is funny, I think, to see him playing some other parts.

I hope Rupert signs on for OotP because it wont be the same without him. Who else is there to play Ron?!?! No one thats who. And what is this rubbish about not wanting Ron and Hermione to get together! I dont think that is up him to decide. He seemed to be wining a bit. It was a little annoying. Cheer up Rupert.

Guys he wasn't embarrassed to hold Emma's hand, he had trouble doing it because his character was to be embarassed for holding Hermione's hand. If it ends up being R/Hr, nothing is going to happen until the last of the series come out. I hope Rupert stays on for the remainder of the series as well as everyone else.

Rupert does play Ron very well. I hope he and the rest of the trio stay for the final three movies! What is with Rupert not wanting to do romantic scenes with Emma...even holding her hand? Is he just painfully shy or is he gay?

That's good. He shouldn't have to worry about doing any romantic scenes at this point because there has not been anything overtly romantic between them yet...but by the time they get to book 6 or 7, he can start to worry!!

Not one of his best pics, he look tired and weird, I think.
I hope he sign for OotP, I want the trio back; don’t care about Tom or the rest just then trio.
I know we have some month before we know if they are coming back or not.
Hope everything work out fine for everyone.

I'm more worried about if he'll stay in the rest of the movies than him dating Emma Watson.

Come on Rupert. It is not your choice what's going to happen in the story. You are an actor, play the part. Looks like Rupert and doesn't like each other. :) Dan and Rupert will be there for OotP but Emma seems to be a big question mark.

That would be so cool to see him in another movie other than Harry Potter. He should still stay for all the movies though or I would cry.

I must say that I appreciate a person who doesn't like doing their homework -- especially considering that I'm putting off my own by being on this site:) But I really hope that he stays on for OoTP -- it would be horrible if any of the actors changed!

Oh, well, I think he's just a little frustrated for playing a more passive character... (he sounds a little bit ashamed of "being Ron"!...) -he's probably afraid of getting stucked with that label... In my opinion, this is the only reason why he talks about wanting to play Malfoy's part and serial-killers... (...and isn't that what Ron would have said if he was an actor??....-I wonder!;) I think it's just a phase. -he'll grow up. ;)

Well, I don't think that films would be the same if they replaced any of the core characters, but that isn't my decision to make. I hope that he is successful, whatever he chooses to do. Rupert has always seemed a little on the shy side to me and it doesn't surprise me at all that he would be uncomfortable filming romantic type scenes. I am glad that he had an article all to himself, too. I think I have seen several with only Dan and only Emma, but very few with only Rupert. I wonder if that is to do with Dan and Emma being so outgoing and Rupert not as talkative during group interviews.... hmmm

It would ba a shame if he wasn't in Ootp. But I mean if Ron and Hermione do get together I think he might leave, but I hope not- he should be more comfortable about it, I mean it is not going to happen for at least a year. A lot of things can happen in a year...

Thats really cool. I am assuming he likes a lot of horror movies to want to be a serial killer in one someday. But in the mean time I really hope he conitnues with the rest of the Harry Potter films. It wouldn't be right if he left now. No one would be able to replace him.

I would be really mad if he was not in Order of the Phoenix because he makes a really great Ron. It just wouldn't be the same if all of the trio were not there. I think it's funny that he doesn't want to do romantic scenes. Well, duh, he's known Emma Watson so long she is probably like a sister to him!

I'm really glad that he isn't just focusing on Harry Potter. It's good for an actor to be varied. On the Ron-Hermione issue: he's just going to have to get over it. :) It's obvious that they have feelings for each other.

Ah ha, I finally understand why I did French! I could understand the whole thing - sorry but I'm really quite excited about that! I think the R/Hr thing will cetainly carry on in the films though, they've hinted at it so it would be strange to back track. I have to say though, his hair is getting to the grungy stage. It looks better a bit longer but it's going too far now!
