One example: The film will not deal with the subplot involving Winky and Dobby, two house elves, and the issue of SPEW.
According to Heyman:
It's Hermione's issue. Not to say Hermione's [not important]. Hermione's a vitally important character. But you have to make some choices. ... One piece of information ... we've put into another character, which feels perfectly organic [and] works. ... The story works perfectly without [the elf story]. And we consulted with Jo [Potter author J.K. Rowling] about it, and she was fine [with it].
Other things that we can expect to see in the movie:

That isn't so bad. It seems we will be seeing the pensieve scene because we have forfeited the Spew storyline, which is funny but as was said, not relevant to the central plot.I'm so excited about this movie, it seems to be going the right direction!!! November isn't that far off!

Well, I'm not suprised that they would cut out the elf liberation, it wasn't put in any of the other films either. But I am wondering how are they going to handle the point when Winky loses Crouch at the tournament and so worth.

As long as Jo is ok with it, I'm too!!!
and it's true that a 700-page-book must be cut somewhere, and i can read the complete story in jo's wonderful books!!!

This is good because it isnt a vital part of the story and if they put that part in they would have to cut something else out which is more important!!

It's good that were getting the penseive scene. The SPEW scenes aren't that important anyway. It would be a nice touch for some of the students to wear a SPEW badge though. It would be like an in-joke for all of us who have read the books.

We always knew there would be lots of bits cut, aspecially with this book, so much happens, and there is no way you can fit it into even a 3hour film, i mean i personally along with most avid HP fans would happily sit through a 5 hour (or more) film, but this is not practical, and hence much of the lesser story has to be removed...though it is still very sad to hear...

Still the spew story line does get bigger as the story goes along, but i suppose if its up to them there is not much we can do about it. I quite like dobby, it'll be niuce to see a glimpse of him. This movie better win the oscar next year then!!

cool, good. It doesn't add to the plot anyway, and atleast they are not cutting out a vital scene, such as the third task.

Well we knew we would have to sacrifice some things, but i hope we still see dobby because he is the one that gives harry the gillyweed. I think the movie will still be really good, cant wait until november!

I suppose they have to cut it down a bit, we'd be in the theater for weeks otherwise, but SPEW is a huge insight into Hermiones character, maybe they should release an extended DVD

Well, it's OK, we already know that the story could never be told as it is in only one movie... We will always have the books whenever we want to have the total story

But SPEW was supposed to be funny!!!
But, really, its a shame they have to cut the fireplace scene. That was supposed to also be hilarious. Oh well, I guess the movie wont be funny...

Very interesting insight. It appears that one will be able to use the film as a guide as to what may be important to the future stories. Thus, it may provide some clues for Book 7. Book 6 won't be helped, since it will be out before the movie.

Poor Hermione! That's one of her major story lines! I can see it's not hugely important to the plot, but Harry needs to find out somehow that Dobby is working at Hogwarts (the lake challenge springs to mind...)

Not that I'm not disappointed about SPEW being cut out. But I kind of expected it would be. It just sucks because I always loved the SPEW plotline.

I think we are all going to have to wait and see the movie. It is really easy to complain about what has been cut. But the movie has to meet the time constraints. And it is all about Harry. If Jo is happy with what has been cut then we all need to sit back and wait.
