One example: The film will not deal with the subplot involving Winky and Dobby, two house elves, and the issue of SPEW.
According to Heyman:
It's Hermione's issue. Not to say Hermione's [not important]. Hermione's a vitally important character. But you have to make some choices. ... One piece of information ... we've put into another character, which feels perfectly organic [and] works. ... The story works perfectly without [the elf story]. And we consulted with Jo [Potter author J.K. Rowling] about it, and she was fine [with it].
Other things that we can expect to see in the movie:

How is everyone going to know the truth about the fake moody and barty crouch, it was winky who told them. and who knows if SPEW turns important in HBP and book 7.
I'm alsow gonna miss the dursleys.
"Anything that doesn't really relate to Harry and Harry's journey is less relevant." WHo stupid is that??? If it is on the book, it's because Jo thought it was important!!!

It would seem that we'll at least have to see Winky. I mean, she is the one who was supposed to be watching Barty Crouch when he sends up the dark mark. I'm a little depressed, but I wonder it there will be an "extended version" - like LOTR. How many hours can this movie go? heheh ;)

Well, if JK says it's okay, then that's actually a clue. If it's not important enough to leave in the movies, SPEW can't be that much of a big deal in the bigger books, can it? I know it's a bit of a stretch to even assume that it was going to be more than a minor point of interest to all but Hermione, but I'm just looking deeper into everything...I cannot wait until all the books are published, I'm going through each book with a highlighter and highlighting foreshadowing.

I totally understand why certain things are being left out of the film, and I'm actually happy about it. I enjoyed "Goblet of Fire," but there were a lot of subplots that didn't have much relevance to the story at hand (not as many as "Order of the Phoenix," thank goodness). I think that the story will flow much nicer without all those diversions in the way.

I'm sad to hear that SPEW won't be in the movie. Which makes me not like the movies in the first place, the fact that stuff HAS to be left out.

I guess that's not as bad as i thought it wuld be. But it hink that they should add the dobbie and winky thing. That's something that I tihnk is impotant. I hope the they put in the unforgatable curses! I really like that part n the book and I hope they show it. they need to show it.

I'm really glad she's okay with it because they're her books after all. If she's okay with it, I don't think we have much to panic about once the movie comes out.

I can't say that I am happy with the cuts, but I understand why they are doing it.
Cuts should be expected.
The only thing that I don't like is when they cut and paste things, like Harry getting his Firebolt the last two minutes of the third movie.
Cut's I can understand though, and I am still excited about the movie.

Well we knew that they were going to have to cut stuff out for time constraints, it's too bad though. The release is coming up though so it'll be out before we know it!

Man, I can't wait. As long as they've got the Yule Ball scene in there, then I'm good and happy. And that bouncing ferret scene. Doesn't take much to make me happy, really it doesn't, just as long as those two are in there... well, what woulda made me happier is if they had put in more of Sirius... but you can't have everything:)

That's a bit disappointing I think - I think the whole S.P.E.W sub-storyline was one of the highlights in GoF! But hey - we'll have to wait and see. If Jo passed the cut, it musn't have too drastic an affect on the movie. But still...

It's just too bad that we arn't going to get to see SPEW. I suppose that is the sacrafic we are having to make to keep our movie at the right length... and if Jk Rowling agreed with the cut then I guess it isn't that bad, and won't have a dramatic effect on the outcome of the movie.
I still can't wait to see it though.

I could live without SPEW, I guess. But they are trimming it down way too much. I don't know how they think they can take a 735 page book and shove it into 2 and a half hours. Lord of the Rings is shorter and it was 3 hours! We're being jipped!

*A massive cemetery (where the film's climax takes place)
*A faux marble Trial Chamber, which rises several stories high
Can I just say that I am sooooooo excited about viewing these two items. Not that I'm not thrilled with everything else, but wow! I can't wait.
As far as the SPEW issue. I have to admit that after awhile on the subject Hermione got on my nerves for being preachy. I get it. She thinks owning house elfs is bad.
It will be more important when Kreacher come in to play.

Hmmm...
Cutting stuff out... AGAIN!
For goodness sake - who cares how long the movie is? I hate it when they miss bits out - not as much as I hate it when they add bits in though...
If I was made the director of the Harry Potter films (Dream on...) I would make the film EXACTLY like the book...
I'd keep the same actors - not for everyone, just the main three and another few.

Im ok with not seeing the SPEW situation in GoF. When i first read the book, it started off being funny but after a while, i felt like it got a bit annoying and i just wanted to get on with the more exciting things happening in the book. Thats just my opinion though. One thing I am curious about is this: Are Harry and Ron going to get into a big fight like in the book? Maybe i missed news relating to that, but i have not seen or heard anything mentioned about that particular subject.

I understand that they have to cut some of the book down. And if JKR says it's "fine," it should be fine. As long as the story does not go way off course, I'm fine with it too. It sounds great, I can't wait! Roll on November 18!
Rock on Dan!
