One example: The film will not deal with the subplot involving Winky and Dobby, two house elves, and the issue of SPEW.
According to Heyman:
It's Hermione's issue. Not to say Hermione's [not important]. Hermione's a vitally important character. But you have to make some choices. ... One piece of information ... we've put into another character, which feels perfectly organic [and] works. ... The story works perfectly without [the elf story]. And we consulted with Jo [Potter author J.K. Rowling] about it, and she was fine [with it].
Other things that we can expect to see in the movie:

I'm alright with it as long as no [i]significant ron/hermione scenes are omitted... I don't know how I could cope! :)

No Winky and Dobby??!!! But I think that it is definitely relevant to the story. Dobby is the one that helps Harry in the 2nd task. But I guess if JK approved, then we'll just have to wait to see the movie. Look at how much was cut from POA, and it still was awesome.
But the SPEW storyline was pretty funny though. Can't wait for the movie come.

I guess if it is fine by JKR, then it is fine by me. That sure does let us know that S.P.E.W. won't be so important. I wish they could film more scenes with the movies and then include them in the DVD... like... An extended version. Like they did with LOTR>

OHHH! What will this movie be without the house-elves?! SPEW would have been fun! they wouldn't have had to spend to much time or money on it! Come ON!! :)

I am so disappointed that we won't be seeing the Dobby/Winky bit. I do hope that at least we'll still be seeing Dobby?! After all, he is the one who saves Harry in the second task.
Also, what is the business about a trophy room? I can't imagine where that fits...not any portion of the tale lends itself to that.

Sounds cool! I was kinda expecting them to make those changes, it is good to hear that Jo is okay with them. Realistically they had to cut stuff like SPEW.
Choronzon: I am anti-life, the beast of judgement. I am the dark at the end of everything. The end of Universes, Gods, worlds... Of everything. Ssss. And what then will you be dreamlord?
Dream: I am hope.

No I think they should keep SPEW it directs straight to the character of Hermione. however if JK it is alright that it gets left out I will go with this.
I cant wait to see the movie/film now and the definite sets sound really ace!

I think that if its Ok with Jo its fgine with me. I would have liked to have seen the S.P.E.W. bits but I understand that they are trying to trim the movie down.

As long as the books are really really long I can handle a trimmed down movie. I guess if JKR is cool with it then it must be alright. But just remembering how long Azkaban was and how cut short I felt even that was, reguarding the story, I'm really cringing to think of how I will be with GOF if it only runs 2 1/2 hrs. As long as the they do the Yule Ball scene justice and don't replace any scenes that never happend in the book... I might live through it. :)

Oh! I just can't wait to see Ron! He's my favorite character ever! I'm not sure if Krum and Cedric are exactly how I pictured them... especially Krum. He is too good looking for the surley, hook-nose character he is supposed to be portraying. Oh well... I can handle it. Ron's better anyways :)

Why take out SPEW when they'll probably mention it in the future book? But it sounds okay. The third HP movie missed crucial points but it's alright I guess. But good luck making it!

I can live without Winky, but I'm really upset about SPEW not being included in the movie. I think it is such a good example of Hermione using her intelligence to get involved in social injustices. Besides, I only [/i]really got to like Hermione after she started the whole SPEW thing.

Yes, I am disapointed about SPEW not being included in the movie, but then, the movies have always been a trimmed version of the books, ommiting a lot of aspects and changing other, but well, I guess that if JK is ok with it then there's nothing we can do about it, she must think is no big deal.

I heard that they are replacing SPEW with some topic related to syrup and rainbows? does anyone know anything about that? This is why I worry about these movies! The directors change something small but it has such a huge impact.. I mean.. come on!

Why does the movie have to be cut? Oh yeah, they told us. Well, I guess I kinda knew that they wouldn't put EVERYTHING in the movie and I wasn't really looking forward to SPEW (I practically forgot about it!)anyway. I'm just glad that they have the cemetery scene and the maze (duh!) scene! OH YEAH.....and the Yule Ball.

Well, they HAD to cut down things, otherwise the film should have been very long! I think it's not that bad they're cutting those. And since it's ok with JK, it's fine with me too. It IS going to be a great film anyway!
