JK Rowling's star wizard will die by the end of her Harry Potter book series, according to a 53% majority of over 15,000 votes cast in HPANA's informal poll. Most fans indicated Harry would sacrifice himself to save loved ones before the end of book seven.
We asked, "Will Harry Potter survive the series and become an adult?"
Here's the rundown as of this story (voting is still open):
41%: No, he'll sacrifice himself to save his loved ones.
29%: Yes, they all live happily ever after.
12%: Yes (for some other reason).
9%: No. If he's not killed, Jo will be hounded to write more.
5%: Yes, though it'll be at St. Mungo's.
2%: No (for some other reason).
The author has playfully hinted -- more than once -- at her leading character's unsure future (at least as far as fans are concerned; Rowling herself knows exactly how the series will end, having already written the final chapter).
We can only wonder if Jo voted in the poll, sometime between taking care of her newborn daughter and sealing up plans for the release of her highly anticipated sixth novel, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. (I just hope he's not whacked by evil French Deatheather Guillaume de Broggy in a deadly duel.)

Harry will defeat Voldemort, but at the price of becoming a MUGGLE!!! -Same scenario: TIME WILL BE REVERSED to that day of October 31 1981/80/?, Voldemort will vanish for good, Harry will SURVIVE, not only without a scar but also WITHOUT MAGICAL POWERS, and he'll grow up as a "normal" muggle child, maybe with some kind of "sixth-sense" or something (like an unexplainable nostalgic feeling), ...and the Dursleys will love him??.../or he will live with somebody else, since he will no longer need their home's protection!.... /or, as I've said before, maybe HIS PARENTS won't die anymore in this "NEW TIME", maybe Voldemort will vanish before killing them, and.....they will all turn into MUGGLES?..... /Or maybe the WHOLE MAGICAL WORLD will have to pay this high price to get rid of Voldemort: getting "CLOSED", all wizards and witches turned into MUGGLES???...... -allright, I think I'm going a little bit CRAZY over here...!!!!.... This ending would be worse than anything, even worse than Harry's death!!!... How about no more thinking for me?? - I think I should go cook something, or wash the carpets, or dig in the snow...... Please, excuse me!!

I know this sounds strange, but i think that if Harry dies saving a loved ones life, it makes a better story. If Harry doesnt die, i think that somebody close to him (eg Ron or Hermione) will. Well, thats just my opinion.

Rowling responds: Well, I don't think it is giving too much away to say that he will survive to book seven, mainly because I do not want to be strangled by you lot, but I am not going to say whether he grows any older than that because I have never said that. I would love to see him live on, and be relatively happy. He's the hero, he just has to live. And also "only one can live..." means that Voldemort would be the one to succeed, and we CAN'T have that!

I seriously dont want harry to die!..But it just makes since if she kills one of the 3 heros!..it will be extremely sad if it is Harry, Hermione, or Ron..but it would make the book more interesting than normal..Tears would come..and im sure it would be VERY powerful and make your adrinalen rise very high!-ive been hearing a lot from other people lately that one of Rowling was going to kill one of them!..but i dont know really. I think Harry might not die at the end of book 7 because usually the heros/good people don't die, maybe Lord Voldy might die instead of Harry because Voldy is his other half. Baddies should die!!!

JKR wouldn't just kill all of them! That would enrage people. I would like to hear how Hermione and Ron (and harry if he survives) make out years later..(she says that she has already written that...about the characters who live).. I hope harry lives... but I think he'll die. It sucks...

Knowing J.K.Rowling though, she's most likely to make something happen that none of us had even thought about. Maybe the most obvious thing (i.e. Voldemort will be conquered and blah.....) is the thing that will happen. Who knows?

on another note...I didn't know that J.K. Rowlings has already written the last chapter of the series...It makes sense though. I would do anything to be able to read that last chapter!! hehe.
