JK Rowling's star wizard will die by the end of her Harry Potter book series, according to a 53% majority of over 15,000 votes cast in HPANA's informal poll. Most fans indicated Harry would sacrifice himself to save loved ones before the end of book seven.
We asked, "Will Harry Potter survive the series and become an adult?"
Here's the rundown as of this story (voting is still open):
41%: No, he'll sacrifice himself to save his loved ones.
29%: Yes, they all live happily ever after.
12%: Yes (for some other reason).
9%: No. If he's not killed, Jo will be hounded to write more.
5%: Yes, though it'll be at St. Mungo's.
2%: No (for some other reason).
The author has playfully hinted -- more than once -- at her leading character's unsure future (at least as far as fans are concerned; Rowling herself knows exactly how the series will end, having already written the final chapter).
We can only wonder if Jo voted in the poll, sometime between taking care of her newborn daughter and sealing up plans for the release of her highly anticipated sixth novel, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. (I just hope he's not whacked by evil French Deatheather Guillaume de Broggy in a deadly duel.)

Okay..so I totally don't think Harry will die. He is too important to the story line. Plus he has to marry Ginny Weasley and live till at least he graduates! How else will we still read the Harry Potter books?

I think he'll have to die (7th book) in order for voldemort to finally lose all power. he'll have to be the sacrifice. As much as that saddens me it will bring closer to the books. There can be no Harry Potter and the (blank) without HP

I think this is a very interesting survey. Though I hate to admit it, I definitely could see Harry giving his life to save one of his loved ones. :( How incredibly sad! I would love for him to live, and follow the series through his life. but I suppose we will all have to wait and see what Rowling has in store for us..

Even if Harry doesn't die, J.K. Rowling already said in her site that 1) she already planned the whole 7th book out and 2) she may have an eighth book, but it would be sort of an encyclopedia. So even if Harry dies, she will probably not write an eighth book (though I'm really hoping for it!).

so i know either way voldemort dies
so another topic or discussion is lily and james potters jobs and what it has to do with a matter of importancy. i think that they were either aurors or they worked in the department of mysteries and knew a whole lot about the hall of prophecy. what makes me think that they are aurors are that voldemort could have chosen neville instead of harry and the longbottoms were aurors. but if the potters worked for the department of mysteries, they could easily find out who would defeat voldemort at any time so that could be a hidden reason why voldemort wanted to kill harry instead of neville

I really hope Harry doesn't die. I was so mad when Dumbledore died! I don't think she would do that, but I never though Dumbledore would be killed either. And he could very possibly die to save the people he loved. So I do think it's possible I just hope it doesn't happen.

-It is highly impossible because according to the prophecy "Neither can live while the other survives."
-It is highly possible because the prophecy never said that they both can't die and I believe Harry will sacrifice himself to kill off Voldemort and saved his loved ones(possibly Ron and Hermione and their families) because it is the type of thing Harry would do.
My reasons to why JK Rowling killed off Sirius:
-probably so that when Harry sacrifices himself, he will be reunited with Sirius and his other dead loved ones.
Detailed Explanation of why Harry would sacrifice himself for Ron's family:
-In the sixth book there is a part when the clock in the "Burrow" were all pointing to "mortal peril". When Mrs. Weasley assumes that everyone is in mortal peril, I believe it false. I think that the Weasley's are in more danger than in anyone else. In the fifth book, there is a part when Mrs. Weasley says that half of their family owes their life to Harry, and Harry I think will save the Weasley's once more but this time sacrificing himself during the process.

Well, I don't think Harry will die. Its way too devastating for me. Having Dumbledore die was so bad, I couldn't think straight the next day... If Harry died, I would feel betrayed, and like I wasted my time reading the books because Harry can't die, he's the greatest wizard.
