JK Rowling's star wizard will die by the end of her Harry Potter book series, according to a 53% majority of over 15,000 votes cast in HPANA's informal poll. Most fans indicated Harry would sacrifice himself to save loved ones before the end of book seven.
We asked, "Will Harry Potter survive the series and become an adult?"
Here's the rundown as of this story (voting is still open):
41%: No, he'll sacrifice himself to save his loved ones.
29%: Yes, they all live happily ever after.
12%: Yes (for some other reason).
9%: No. If he's not killed, Jo will be hounded to write more.
5%: Yes, though it'll be at St. Mungo's.
2%: No (for some other reason).
The author has playfully hinted -- more than once -- at her leading character's unsure future (at least as far as fans are concerned; Rowling herself knows exactly how the series will end, having already written the final chapter).
We can only wonder if Jo voted in the poll, sometime between taking care of her newborn daughter and sealing up plans for the release of her highly anticipated sixth novel, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. (I just hope he's not whacked by evil French Deatheather Guillaume de Broggy in a deadly duel.)

I really hope she doesn't kill Harry at the end of the series! Especially for the reason that she doesn't have to write anymore! I can see someone else dying to save Harry...as his mother saved him. If the last word is scar we can only hope that means Harry is still alive...but you never can tell...

Hmm, Personaly, I think that JK Rowling has enough sense to (unlike me, dont ask! Fanfiction.net biz.) kill her main character. And even if she did it would be a fairly heroic death.

but thats my version of worst case senario it might turn out that every one lives happily and after voldemort is killed every one who was killed by him will be revived

Not that I am super-obsessive over him or anything but I do not have a death wish for him either! I don't know about the loved ones thig either. How could he kill LV while being a sacrifice? I think that it would be best if Harry and LV had it out and killed LV and not others.
I think that if Rowling did not kill off Harry she would have a Looong life ahead of her because Potter fans would want MORE.

Everybody is beginning to believe Harry will die. Jkr said she may kill him off, so that she won't have to write sequals. But you don't have to kill him off just to prevent writing more thats dumb.
I actually think our hero will live, because why would she spoil her plot? tell us she is thinking of killing him off as a high possibility? If she was going to kill him off, she wouldn't tell us. If he does die, many people who agree he will die sacrifising himself who loved ones, won't be very suprising will it? and it will make a dull ending.
If Harry dies, Voldemort lives. Though, I guess Harry could die after killing him..
But the profacey still remains so. Neigher can live while the other surives.
I highly doubt that she will end her story with Voldemort living and killing Harry. What kind of story does that make!? People think Harry's going to die and reunite with Sirius, his mum and dad, and finally be at peace... but he made Hermione and Ron his family, so I don't think he'd be at peace leaving them.

I don't think that she should kill him off! Sir Conan Doyle once thought of killing off Sherlock Holmes. Keeping them alive is what keeps them timeless. On the other hand, why would you kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

Sacrificing the protagonist has worked for Shakespeare, Harriet Beecher-Stowe, and Steven King. If Harry sacrificed himself to destroy Voldemort, it would defintely make an impact on JKR's readers. She's a brilliant author and not afraid of taking chances. I believe anything can happen in book 7.
