JK Rowling's star wizard will die by the end of her Harry Potter book series, according to a 53% majority of over 15,000 votes cast in HPANA's informal poll. Most fans indicated Harry would sacrifice himself to save loved ones before the end of book seven.
We asked, "Will Harry Potter survive the series and become an adult?"
Here's the rundown as of this story (voting is still open):
41%: No, he'll sacrifice himself to save his loved ones.
29%: Yes, they all live happily ever after.
12%: Yes (for some other reason).
9%: No. If he's not killed, Jo will be hounded to write more.
5%: Yes, though it'll be at St. Mungo's.
2%: No (for some other reason).
The author has playfully hinted -- more than once -- at her leading character's unsure future (at least as far as fans are concerned; Rowling herself knows exactly how the series will end, having already written the final chapter).
We can only wonder if Jo voted in the poll, sometime between taking care of her newborn daughter and sealing up plans for the release of her highly anticipated sixth novel, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. (I just hope he's not whacked by evil French Deatheather Guillaume de Broggy in a deadly duel.)

I Think it would be incredibly pointless for him to die. She is just going to show that Evil wins over good. Such is living in this world. I hope she doesnt screw it up. Everybody needs a Hero and why should it be Voldemort? Please tell me she thought of that? Unfortunately she already wrote it. A Pity she cant change it. Oh, well, such is the life of a Hero.

The suspence is killing me! I hope book seven will be here soon but I also hope it doesn't get here too soon because then it will be all over... JK, if you happen to read this: what can we do to make you write more HP books? We'll do anything!

I think 7 will end with the final chapters doing an LOTR-esque thing, where we see glimpses of life after LV... Harry not exactly happy or as he was, but alive and changed somehow.

in my opinion i think that Harry will end up dead... don´t kill me for this... but imagine the scene: the drak lord rising his wand to Ron and Hermione, decided to kill them... then Harry risies and steps in front of them both, tring to save them...
the Avada Keadvra spell ctahes him rigth in the middle of the chest... and BAM! Harry dies...

I really hope he does live, i mean who doesn't? but the reality of it may be that he won't live. which is a shame because it's like all those years of writting the books, she's going to kill off the main character. that's awesome how she's finished with the last chapter.

Personally I would hate myself forever curl up into a pathetic little ball and hide! I cant see Jo doing that so im holding out for harry dying very old with the 12 grandkids that trewlawny predicted he would have!

I have a feeling that Ron will die because he has this great need to prove himself as more than just Harry's friend. I love Ron though!
I know that J K Rowling will have issues if she leaves Harry alive, but how will good triumph (oh I don't think that evil will go away but it can't take over again because then that leaves the door open wider for more books than Harry living)? Or will the whole wizarding world be exposed as I think that the early chapters of Philosopher's Stone hint?

Oh mann I don't want to see Harry die! He can't, that would be a horrible way to end the series. Only Jo knows what will really happen, and I hope its not that he will die.

I would hate it if Harry died, but then again, it may make sense for him to protect his friends and sacrifice himself. I thought the survey was pretty interesting. I voted that he would sacrifice himself, since that seems like a thing that Harry would do. But we'll have to see what happens when HBP and Book 7 come out.

If Harry Potter dies at in the 7th book, i think i could die! JKR has said that Harry lives in the 6th book, but how could she let Voldemort kill harry? I think Harry will survive, JKR knows that too many people would be hurt if he didn't.
