The British
and American
publishers of Harry Potter have posted the jacket covers for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The children's British versions by Jason Cockcroft, shows Harry and Dumbledore in rings of fire and the adult version is from a photograph by Michael Wildsmith showing a tattered book called Advanced Potion-Making.
The Scholastic cover by Mary GrandPré was debuted this morning on NBC's Today
show (click for video!). On the American edition, Harry and Dumbledore are looking into what seems to be a pensive.
Click here for all three covers (biggest available online).
Update: Read Raincoast Books' press release
, Scholastic's press release
, and Bloomsbury's press release
. Also, see this photo of artist Mary GrandPré at her studio
with the book cover on her desk.

All 3 covers are completely amazing. I've been looking forward to these covers for so long, but now all I can think of is cracking them open and reading HBP. Why can't July 16 come any sooner?

Oh wow! I didn't expect them to release the book covers before the book came out! I'm wondering if the advanced potions book on the front of the adults versions means that Snape is the Half Blood Prince??? (Just a random thought). And wow, I wonder what Harry and Dumbledore are looking at in the Pensieve.

The covers are beautiful. I am anxiously waiting for the book to come out. It will be interesting to see what the drawings have to do with the story line.

I take it from the British cover that Harry doesn't get away from Potions... must've really come through on the OWL. I love the American cover -- just so much possibility there!

Are we even sure its a pensieve? The adult UK book has a book of advanced potions. It could be a big stone cauldron or something.

Wow the British childrens book cover is wicked, they look like they are in a battle and the adult version is very nice its kinda classy. TheAmerican version is alright, its just what I expected from the artist it definately looks like its the next of the series.

I liked all of the book covers. This was the first time I had viewed a British cover of HP. They are very classy and a lot different than the American versions. Like many people have already said, the hints on the back of the book will not make any sense until we read it...I can't wait!

I really like it! It doesnt reveal too much about the story... which I like. It would be awesome to be in charge of designing the covers to these books!

the cover looks great. I am glad dumbledore is on the cover , because it might mean that he will have a even larger role in this book.I was surpised on the green cover , I was thinking it would be purple, but thats ok.I think dumbledores pensive will be important.

Yes! They are so awesome. Oh man, they're great. Looks like Harry will be doing stuff with Dumbledore. Both British and American versions are with Harry and DD. That's so cool... I think if I would get it, pick the British children's one. It looks better than the adult version

Those covers are great. This must mean that Harry will be doing something with Dunbledore and that he probably passed his potions exam because it has something to do with potions on all of the covers! cant wait till july 16... hurry up. I prefer the british version of the cover sompared to the other, but i still think they are great covers.

Grandson of Dumbledore says:
I am convinced, more than ever, that the time is coming for my beloved grandfather Albus Dumbledore to die.
Clearly his face is morbid in the image on the cover of the British edition. The fear in his eyes for Harry, and for himself, is evident.
The end is near, for all who love Dumbledore nearly as much as I do.
