The British
and American publishers of Harry Potter have posted the jacket covers for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The children's British versions by Jason Cockcroft, shows Harry and Dumbledore in rings of fire and the adult version is from a photograph by Michael Wildsmith showing a tattered book called Advanced Potion-Making.
The Scholastic cover by Mary GrandPré was debuted this morning on NBC's Today show (click for video!). On the American edition, Harry and Dumbledore are looking into what seems to be a pensive.

I just wanted to add, since I can't edit here (or at least I don't know how) but that does not seem like a pensieve to me. Anyways ill see if theres a forum on it I always thought a pensieve was more like a bowl.

The cover is not what I expected it to look like. I do think that Dumbledore is gonna kick it soon, though. Its sad but there has to be a point where harry is left to deal with this stuff on his own. Its a bummer.. but I'm sure that he'll still be there one way or another if he does die.

O.K. I, too, think that is the pensieve that Harry and Dumbledore are looking into. I also agree with Hurry_Patter that Harry is learning something about Godric Gryffindor and his parents. Also, I think the tattered book about Advanced Potions may mean Harry did well on his O.W.L.s and will be able to pursue becoming an auror, which if I remember correctly, requires advanced potions. More Snape! Didn't is leak out a while back that we would learn why Dumbledore trusts Snape? Perhaps that is what he is showing Harry in the pensieve. Exciting!

Hmm, yet again i feel resentment and annoyance at the fact america has to have its own version of the book compared to the rest of the world...why? *curls lip* ahah sorry, it just realy irritates me. i love all the covers, but gotta say the brit versions (well not versions, the brit covers, as it is the american ones that are a version of ours) are better, more colourful and exciting. Love the adult cover! have to get that one too, suppose harry must have succeded with potions...or else the book is largely orientated around snape....woot!

Yea! I'm so stoked! I was heading off to school when I was about to turn the TV off and they said they were going to unveil the cover! I almost didn't even go to school just so I could see it but my mom basically pushed me out of the house. The colors are awesome and it seems like it's gonna be a great story judging by the cover. :D

I was so mad this morning because I was on my way out the door to go to school, when I heard Katie Curak from NBC Today say that they would be unveiling the book cover for HBP. I had to leave at 7:15, but they would be showing the cover at 7:30! The book covers were the only things that I could think about at school. I'm glad there's HPANA! I love all of the book covers!

Oh my god!!!! i have been waiting for this day (don't ask me why). i don't know if i like it as much as the other book covers. in the UK version dumbledore looks like he's having a heart attack... hmmm.... wow our version (US) is very green. kinda like OOTP was all blue. ah well, it's the content that matters. and judging by the cover the content will probably rock.
