The Britishopens in new window and Americanopens in new window publishers of Harry Potter have posted the jacket covers for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The children's British versions by Jason Cockcroft, shows Harry and Dumbledore in rings of fire and the adult version is from a photograph by Michael Wildsmith showing a tattered book called Advanced Potion-Making.

The Scholastic cover by Mary GrandPré was debuted this morning on NBC's Todayopens in new window show (click for video!). On the American edition, Harry and Dumbledore are looking into what seems to be a pensive.

Click here for all three covers (biggest available online).

Update: Read Raincoast Books' press releaseopens in new window, Scholastic's press releaseopens in new window, and Bloomsbury's press releaseopens in new window. Also, see this photo of artist Mary GrandPré at her studioopens in new window with the book cover on her desk.

the covers are so cool, Mary Grandpre' has really outdone herself, I love the way she draws. And it's quite strange that she has only met J.K.R once, I always thought that they would be very close. Anyway, the covers are fabulous and I especially like the U.S one, the ring of fire one shows a strange picture which I'll have to see how it's connected to the book, come july 16th.

Aww, I've never seen Dumbles look so angry. And there's a Pensieve? Is that a Pensieve?

By the way, I especially love the Bloomsbury adult cover. It's just so classy. For me, anyway.

ARGGHH I am going to SPORK my eyes out if JULY 16 DOESN'T COME SOONER!!

This definitely shows DD showing Harry his own thoughts taken from the night V killed his parents. Jo said we'd learn more, what better way to tell us than as harry learns for himself.

I think the cover is amazing, it is nothing like I imagined it to look like, but it is great!!
It really has a serious tone to it, lots of mystery, and suspense, and a much darker feel!
I can not wait, July 16th cannot come soon enough!

LOVE the US cover. Very mysterious. And don't forget there is a special edition available on amazon.com with artwork and a different slip cover (like the OoTP hardcover). What's up with the rings of fire around them on the UK kids version? That's scary. And I'm even more intrigued by the UK adult version...Advanced Potions Making? That REEKS of Snape. I wonder how big a role he will play in book 6. 121 more days!! WOO HOO!!

The Childrens British Version is best, people! Look at my avatar, and you can tell I think that...its much more exciting than the others, and just to make it even better - its British. Although I am wondering what DD and Harry are looking atin the pensieve. if thats what it is. And I hope the advanced potion book means that Harry takes it with more vintage Snape!!

WAIT!!! I have a question!!! What is the diffference between the children's version and the adult version??? AND do they only have it like that in the UK??? I'm confused. If anybody know the answer to that, please tell me.

Oh and I like the american cover better than the British cover. But you can't judge a book by it's cover. So even if the book's cover isn't that great, the book is still AWESOME most likely anyhow.

I love the British versions better!

I dont understand why they have to have different books for America and everyone else... And why did they have two different names for the first book?

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone
Harry Potter and the Sorcers Stone

Whats with it???

The Half Blood King says:

I love the UK one which tells us more. Don't you see? Dumbledore and Harry (might) be fighting all the Death Eaters and Voldemort. That powerfull complex spell can ward of anything it looks like. The US cover tells us something about Harry and what we are going to see in the penseive (or) It might be dumbledore taking "potions classes with Dumbledore. I say it mustbe another penseive! Oh what memories? The UK adult cover might be explaining that harry is on the way to become an Auror after all! "LIBATIOUS BORAGE" which means "liquid offering" in Latin was the one who is the author of the book potrayed in the UK Adult cover. Maybe harry is stdying NEWT level potions after all and won't suffer Snape's "displeasure" and got through his "OWLs" in flying colours. I am Anxiously waiting for July 16th.Till then gaze at the beautiful covers.
