I definately can't help but wonder if the UK/Canada Adult cover is foreshadowing that Harry did pass his O.W.L and will be in N.E.W.T Potions....poor Harry, more Snape if thats the case. I was so happy to have news on the cover but I am kind of disappointed that it wasn't a "door-opening" event. ;(

The book covers are so different compared to each other. I personally like the Scholastic one, which is good for me, because I live in the United States. So I wouldn't be getting the other version. Gosh, how I wish it was July 16 already!

Finally...the book covers! I don't know if I like them, but it let's me know I'm one step closer to my copy of the Half-Blood Prince. I'll have to be very careful with watching the news though...they just kind of spring stuff on you, with no warning!

There's something about seeing the front cover that makes the 16th seem a little closer and a little farther away...of course nothing will change the progression of days...but it looks like the pensieve will once again play a role in the book. I wonder if Harry will get a chance to see Dumbledore's memories of his parents? Hmmmmm....

Thank you Scholastic. They're the bomb! I'll be getting the American version, since I don't plan to go to England anytime soon (though that would be nice). Both covers are really cool.

The British cover kinda scares me, with all the fire and stuff on it. But I really really LOVE the American cover. It's my favorite one so far...

I wonder if this means Harry will get his own pensieve, or if he will be taught how to use one (one on loan for him maybe) or if DD needs to teach him about the first war via the pensieve?? Love the cover!

Okay, two things I want to point out.
1). In the UK (adult version) it shows the Potion book, isn't that the same class required for Harry to be an auror?
2) The green mist from the bowl of the Scholastic cover. The only thing I remember having a green light is the Killing Curse. I wonder if he gets to see his parents being killed (maybe their was a witness after all). Or maybe it's showing someone else being killed in the past?
Just some interesting things I noticed

WOW! Not very original, but WOW! It IS like getting the book! Does the potions book mean Harry will be taking a N.E.W.T. level Potions course? I thought snape only took students with Outsanding O.W.L. marks in his N.E.W.T. class? Did Harry manage an "O"? Wow: Go Harry! I never thought he'd get there! What's next? Hermione failing Arithmancy, or Neville Getting an "O" in Potions as well? Well, I'm really jealous of the editors and illustrators, who actually read it, though... Maybe Scholastic and Bloomsbury should start a contest for Book 7, the winner can read it like three months before its release! Awesome. I suppose that the winner would get stampeded or receive death threats to make him talk, though... Anyway, Jo, I hope you're writing right now, book seven had better be out soon after book six! I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG! I'm going to have a heart attack... Just joking, Mrs Rowling, hehehe, please don't be offended, continue writing, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The covers to the book give some clues to what is in HBP. Obviously that is a pensive that Harry and Dumbledore are looking into, but why is there a text book on Advanced Potions? Maybe Snape will be the new DADA prof. and the new postions master is the HBP?!?!? Who knows except for J.K of course. Ohhh I cant wait.

I think that is the most powerful drawing of Dumbledore I've seen. Whatever he's doing, you can tell he isn't happy about something. I think that cover is showing some of Dumbledore's true powers. Up till now, we've only heard how powerful he is and got a taste of it at the end of the 5th book. The 6th book is likely to show more of the angry & powerful Dumbledore!

I love the high res pictures! I'm guessing Harry scraped an OWL in potions...as there is the "advanced potion making" book on the cover. Of course he did...we need the conflict between harry and snape!

Wow! I can't believe they came out today! I love the US version the best (maybe I'm saying that because I'm American). So we have three clues; a ring of fire, the pensive, and an "Advanced Potions" book. I think that the potions book maybe has something to do with Harry having to take potions because he wants to be an Auror. I remember JK saying something about the chapter in book 5 about Carrer choices played an important role. Hey maybe I'm on to something here!

Oooh, one more question! We know the book is Advanced Potions, but why is it an old book? Why not use a new book, I mean Harry has the most money of the trio? Could it belong to someone else (like the HBP)
:-)

The covers are just amazing. Out of curiosity, what is the difference between the UK adult and children's versions? In the US we only have one version and I've been wondering if there's any difference between the adult and children's versions.
