With just over 100 days until the July 16 release of JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, U.S. publisher Scholastic is preparing a multimillion dollar marketing blitz
to stir up excitement.
At the 50 day mark on May 27, Scholastic will ship 40,000 of these countdown clock standees (334KB JPG image) to bookstores.
The base theme message "Who Is The Half-Blood Prince?" will appear on airplane video screens, electronic billboards, and online. The New York Times on July 10 will run a crossword puzzle dedicated to the book. Fans will also receive lightning-bolt scars at midnight with their books.

More adverts? This is just teasing us! I'm glad the book's coming out on the same date in Britain and the US though- they've been different in the past, haven't they? I can't say as I particularly want a scar, but roll on July 16th anyway!

dalenorth yea i know about the deals. You can pre-order the book at www.bn.com for like $17.99 and if you are a member you can get it for $16.99. I may even work there so I might get to have my book first and have an even better discount.

This kind of marketing campaign is libel to give me an attack of some sort from the build up of excitement. *laughs* Seriously, though, is it sad I want a scar, and I'm almost 30? *laughs* I could wear it to the first showing of GoF on November 18th. I've said a hundred times already and will say it at least another 100 before the 16th - I can't wait for the HBP!
