With just over 100 days until the July 16 release of JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, U.S. publisher Scholastic is preparing a multimillion dollar marketing blitz
to stir up excitement.
At the 50 day mark on May 27, Scholastic will ship 40,000 of these countdown clock standees (334KB JPG image) to bookstores.
The base theme message "Who Is The Half-Blood Prince?" will appear on airplane video screens, electronic billboards, and online. The New York Times on July 10 will run a crossword puzzle dedicated to the book. Fans will also receive lightning-bolt scars at midnight with their books.

I love the way they did Voldemort's sign flying over the city of London (just guessing that's the city). Wonder who dies that lives in London? Maybe Mrs. Figg? Or could the Death Eaters have found the Order of the Phoenix's Headquarters? Or maybe a Dursley?

I can feel it, it's really getting closer. Scholastic has some really good brains working for them. This new scheme will not only arouse excitement,it will also attract newcomers to Harry Potter mania.
And how do you get a lighning bolt scar?, anyway, the thing is that I want one, i really want one.

I actually already have a scar. Last year for my birthday my co-workers got me a Harry Potter goody bag that included scar stickers. They became part of my Harry Potter Halloween Costume. Anyway, the marketing blitz will be cool and I'll definitely want a copy of that crossword puzzle.

May 27! That's so cool! That's the day I get out of school for the summer! What a nice present knowing that it'll only be fifty more days! To celebrate I'm going to have to drive down to my local Barnes and Noble (bless it!) and get me one of those countdown standees... so cool...:)
