British tabloid The Mail on Sunday
states in article today that Katie Leung, the 17-year-old Scottish actress playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has become "a hate figure for obsessive fans" on the Internet.
In the article titled Harry Potter and the Poisoned Chalice the author goes on to say “cores of fake websites have sprung up, some apparently giving her thoughts and feelings in diary form. There are photographs purporting to be of Katie, and many are of obviously older, more experienced girls in revealing poses. Most disturbing are several 'hate Katie' sites where youngsters are encouraged to explain in graphic detail why they loathe the dark-haired beauty."
Katie’s father is quoted as saying:
I have seen these sites. I have looked at every one of them. It is rather frightening when you see things like "hate Katie." It is incredible, really. I can't make sense of it, although I know how popular Harry Potter is. Katie is only 17 and hasn't even appeared on film. No one knows her, has seen her or heard her speak, yet there are all these things on the Internet. Unfortunately I know she has seen them, too. She reads them all and it is a great pressure on her. With these websites, I cannot even think what may happen when the film eventually comes out. In a way I'm dreading it. She's been told she mustn't give interviews or speak to anybody until the producers say it's time. It's all happened so fast.

I haven't seen anything nasty posted on HPANA about her.
I know there are alot of people who didn't think she looked "right" for the role but I didn't know there were sites dedicated to her personally. That is disturbed and a little beyond the realm of reality.
When you get down to it, these people in all the films are actors!!!
They are not actually the characters they play!!!!
And as real as they are for many people, the characters are also fictional people. They are from J.K. Rowling's brilliant mind.
Let's not blur the line between reality and fantasy to the point that things get personal and ugly.

That's not cool. Even though Cho turns out one way, Katie is just an actress, so she doesn't deserve all this. I highly doubt, after this, that she will do OotP, wven though she has a much larger role in that one.

I think most of the people who hate Katie are girls who are really jealous because she's going to kiss Daniel in the next film. And yeah I'm jealous too but I can't say I hate her. However I don't like her much because she's not what I imaginged Cho to look like. I'm sorry but I thought Cho would be prettier, even though Katie looks ok in the new picture.
Anyways, it is really mean of the people who bash her just because they're jealous. She's probably a really good actress though, so Katie, if you come across this, don't mind those sites, you'll be brilliant!!

as for the picture, that wasn't really a good one. i have noticed though that in all of her pics, I always see her holding her cellphone (hehe, just an observation...)

Either that or they have really taken liberties with GOF.
Cedric isn't killed by Wormtail's dagger! Surely they wouldn't take the Avada Kedavra spell out! And most of what they say about Cho and Harry happens in OOTP.
I think I will treat this Daily Mirror arcticle as utter rubbish until proven differently.

I hope that people learn some day to separate the person from the role. Katie is not Cho Chang -- she will play her in the film, but that is all. Jo Rowling decided that Harry Potter would have a crush on Cho Chang. Katie had nothing to do with it.
Let the poor girl be, people. We'll see if she can act when the film comes out. That's what her job is.
