British tabloid The Mail on Sunday
states in article today that Katie Leung, the 17-year-old Scottish actress playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has become "a hate figure for obsessive fans" on the Internet.
In the article titled Harry Potter and the Poisoned Chalice the author goes on to say “cores of fake websites have sprung up, some apparently giving her thoughts and feelings in diary form. There are photographs purporting to be of Katie, and many are of obviously older, more experienced girls in revealing poses. Most disturbing are several 'hate Katie' sites where youngsters are encouraged to explain in graphic detail why they loathe the dark-haired beauty."
Katie’s father is quoted as saying:
I have seen these sites. I have looked at every one of them. It is rather frightening when you see things like "hate Katie." It is incredible, really. I can't make sense of it, although I know how popular Harry Potter is. Katie is only 17 and hasn't even appeared on film. No one knows her, has seen her or heard her speak, yet there are all these things on the Internet. Unfortunately I know she has seen them, too. She reads them all and it is a great pressure on her. With these websites, I cannot even think what may happen when the film eventually comes out. In a way I'm dreading it. She's been told she mustn't give interviews or speak to anybody until the producers say it's time. It's all happened so fast.

Hating on a person just because they don't look like the character you pictured? Thats completley ignorant. Obviously you arent going to find the exact copy of a book character to a human life form.

Personally Cho Chang is a character I could have lived without, but since she is a character an actress is needed to play her and so comes Katie Leung. And looking at the pictures of her, she is exactly, down to like her eye placement and everything the way I pictured her. The people making those sites probably look nothing like the described Cho and are probably bad actresses. People need to get a grip. Daniel Radcliffe is nothing special and ooooo wow she gets to kiss him oh now im really angry. GET A GRIP!!!!!!!!

Aw. That poor girl. I feel bad for her. I would be afriad to play Cho as well. The people who are put this stuff up are just jealous. SHe may not lok like the Cho we all expected, but she's what we have and we just need to deal with it, the right way.

Well isn't that weird, Ok, I might not like the picture because she doesn't look like the Cho I pictured while reading the books, but I definitely don't hate her. People have become so emotionally close to Harry that they just can't accept anyone getting close to him.

I think she will play a just fine Cho Chang. It might help, though, if people aren't putting her down before they've even given her a chance. That's not very fair. I'm sure they wouldn't have casted her if she was such a horrible person/actor as a lot of people are saying.
