British tabloid The Mail on Sunday
states in article today that Katie Leung, the 17-year-old Scottish actress playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has become "a hate figure for obsessive fans" on the Internet.
In the article titled Harry Potter and the Poisoned Chalice the author goes on to say “cores of fake websites have sprung up, some apparently giving her thoughts and feelings in diary form. There are photographs purporting to be of Katie, and many are of obviously older, more experienced girls in revealing poses. Most disturbing are several 'hate Katie' sites where youngsters are encouraged to explain in graphic detail why they loathe the dark-haired beauty."
Katie’s father is quoted as saying:
I have seen these sites. I have looked at every one of them. It is rather frightening when you see things like "hate Katie." It is incredible, really. I can't make sense of it, although I know how popular Harry Potter is. Katie is only 17 and hasn't even appeared on film. No one knows her, has seen her or heard her speak, yet there are all these things on the Internet. Unfortunately I know she has seen them, too. She reads them all and it is a great pressure on her. With these websites, I cannot even think what may happen when the film eventually comes out. In a way I'm dreading it. She's been told she mustn't give interviews or speak to anybody until the producers say it's time. It's all happened so fast.

I personally think she will be a great Cho Chang. These people are just Jealous because she got the opportunity of a life time.They need to GROW UP ! Katie best wishes to you and your family.

I won't judge Katie until I see the movie. Really, it's not good to judge anyone at all, but it's human nature. If she does an awful job then I probably won't like her and if she does great everyone should just leave her alone.

That's just crazy, irrational and downright wrong. First, there is absolutely no reason to dislike her at all, nobody even knows her! And second, even if people do dislike her, perhaps because of a FICTIONAL character she is playing or that she seems wrong for their imagined part(personally, she looks like my perfect Cho), there is no excuse whatsoever to do things like that on the internet. Some people are just...{*@#9!& Get a life and let the girl get on with hers.

Message to all those Harry Potter fans out there that are in any way shape of form responcible for published material of a hate Katie site. "GROW UP AND GET A LIFE YOU MORONS". I dont care if she doesnt look like the cho you pictured, wa wa wa wa. Katie auditioned for the part. The producers and Directors and YES even J.K. herself seemed to think that she was the best for the job. Even if she didnt work out they would have replaced her..but they didnt...So she must have done a good job during filming. Yes While reading the books, one does get the impression that "the character, Cho Chang" is some what a silly little girl who needs to grow up a bit. However THIS IS JUST A CHARACTER. the Actor "Katie" is not really like the character, she just plays her....So if you hate Cho, then Hate Cho....Dont hate the person who plays her.
Message to Kati if she ever comes across this at all. Dont get discouraged from acting just because jelous individuals need to post sites of hate just so they can make their own pitiful lives feel so much better. In the end, you will have the experience and they are just the ones that buy alcohol and sit on a street corner begging for money. Keep the good work up Kati and I hope to see you in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, HBP and Movie 7.

People need to realise that these are all actors!! If people are hating Katie for playing the part of Cho (Harry's love interest) then I feel desperatley sorry for any girl that Daniel dates...
I myself am not fond of the character Cho but I will not judge Katie until i see her acting.
Anyone who is a member of these 'hey lets all hate this person we have never met, never seen just because she (blah blah blah)' needs to pull their head out of the sand (I was thinking something else, but as this is a family site i'll restrain myself) and grow up.
