British tabloid The Mail on Sunday
states in article today that Katie Leung, the 17-year-old Scottish actress playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has become "a hate figure for obsessive fans" on the Internet.
In the article titled Harry Potter and the Poisoned Chalice the author goes on to say “cores of fake websites have sprung up, some apparently giving her thoughts and feelings in diary form. There are photographs purporting to be of Katie, and many are of obviously older, more experienced girls in revealing poses. Most disturbing are several 'hate Katie' sites where youngsters are encouraged to explain in graphic detail why they loathe the dark-haired beauty."
Katie’s father is quoted as saying:
I have seen these sites. I have looked at every one of them. It is rather frightening when you see things like "hate Katie." It is incredible, really. I can't make sense of it, although I know how popular Harry Potter is. Katie is only 17 and hasn't even appeared on film. No one knows her, has seen her or heard her speak, yet there are all these things on the Internet. Unfortunately I know she has seen them, too. She reads them all and it is a great pressure on her. With these websites, I cannot even think what may happen when the film eventually comes out. In a way I'm dreading it. She's been told she mustn't give interviews or speak to anybody until the producers say it's time. It's all happened so fast.

I think she's really pretty and might do a really good job as Cho!!

I think that is rubbish. She's an ACTOR! She's not really in love with Harry Potter. and Harry Potter is a CHARACTER. not a real person. All it is is little immature girls who secretly dream of being Daniel Radcliffe's girlfriend, I think those sites should be shut down and real people like us here should go to the sites and tell them off. IMMATURITY! That's all this is. I feel sorry for the poor girl.

I can't say I would have seen this coming, especially from the HP community. I truly believe those who are proponents to such an act have forgotten the core values of the books. How could they do such a thing escapes me, especially when she was not even given the chance to prove her self.

Hating someone because there not pretty is mean and shallow, you just don’t do it! Hating someone because they are pretty is also mean, it just show’s what kind of person you are (jealous) and jealous isn’t very becoming for ladies and gentlemen.
1.) Why hate Katie because she’s supposed to be Dan’s love interest?
(Well first off Katie is playing Cho Chang! Dan is playing Harry Potter! Dan as Harry is supposed to like Katie Leung, there not really going out, and even if they were it would be none of there business anyway.)
2.) She’s not how ‘fans’ (some fans that is) pictured how Cho would look?
Fan’s don’t get to pick what actresses and actors get to be in the Harry Potter movies, she’s not to old and look’s pretty as well. Cho was supposed to be a round sixteen anyway and Katie is seventeen, just one year older than the book character Cho. Tom Felton is seventeen (I think) and makes an exceptional Draco Malfoy, he’s also a rather good actor and handsome too! But people don’t think he’s too old!
3.) ‘Obsessive Fans’ think’s she’s a rude, snob?
(How! How do you think someone’s a rude snob? They have not even heard her talk, act etc etc that’s just another ‘lame’ excuse for you to hate someone. It’s rather a coinsedense since there the one’s being rude Haters then they have the audasity to call someone else ‘rude’ when it’s not true. I mean really! There’s this little thing called ‘get a grip!’ they should try that sometimes ;)
This whole I hate Katie thing is positively ridiculous!

We hardly know anything about Katie. Who cares if we don't think she doesn't look like Cho, obviously if JK and the casting directors thinks that she is fit for the job who can any of us complain???
I admit that I am not a big fan of the character Cho in the books, but that doesn't mean I am going to set up websites that I hate the actress who plays her.
Those people need to give her a break and they should grow up!!
