British tabloid The Mail on Sunday
states in article today that Katie Leung, the 17-year-old Scottish actress playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, has become "a hate figure for obsessive fans" on the Internet.
In the article titled Harry Potter and the Poisoned Chalice the author goes on to say “cores of fake websites have sprung up, some apparently giving her thoughts and feelings in diary form. There are photographs purporting to be of Katie, and many are of obviously older, more experienced girls in revealing poses. Most disturbing are several 'hate Katie' sites where youngsters are encouraged to explain in graphic detail why they loathe the dark-haired beauty."
Katie’s father is quoted as saying:
I have seen these sites. I have looked at every one of them. It is rather frightening when you see things like "hate Katie." It is incredible, really. I can't make sense of it, although I know how popular Harry Potter is. Katie is only 17 and hasn't even appeared on film. No one knows her, has seen her or heard her speak, yet there are all these things on the Internet. Unfortunately I know she has seen them, too. She reads them all and it is a great pressure on her. With these websites, I cannot even think what may happen when the film eventually comes out. In a way I'm dreading it. She's been told she mustn't give interviews or speak to anybody until the producers say it's time. It's all happened so fast.

I think that is Outragous!! How can you hate someone you know nothing about! i understand that you may not have seen her for the role, but maybe she will surpise you and there are other ways to say you dislike somebody with out using the word hate, because HATE is a very strong word!!!!!!

I don't know. The girl I had in my head to play this part seem to me to be a bit prettier chinese girl with short hair and some how make a fuss to look good. You know, like one of those popular girls in school like you see in movies who like to play perfect and thinks that they are above everyone. I don't know, I just picture her that way.

I am so very disappointed in the people who can't seem to separate a character from the actor who plays that character. It is not Katies fault that Harry and Cho don't get along better. As for the websites with the "pics" if thats what you want to call them...I think the people behind them should be ashamed of themselves. I hope Katies first taste of acting hasn't soured her to future roles...

Okay that's just sad her dad is worrying about Gof coming out when he should be happy. Fans who don't like Katie need to chill out. This is like her first movie!!!!Sure she might not be the "exact" Cho Chang you pictured while reading the books but so what? She was choosen out of ALL the girls who wanted to being Cho. So just give her a positive attitude for once and just be glad there's someone who actually plays Cho and has familiar things about. This is a great excuse for how judgemental people get without even knowing the person.

And I thought I had misread or something but I realized that I was right in sayin that the kiss was in IV. Oh well. Katie doesn't look like who I pictured.

They need to get a grip. she is not Cho, she is an actor, and even at that Cho wasnt even that bad she was just an emotional wreck and Harry doesnt know how to deal with girls. I just can't believe people can hate someone who they dont know who is playing a fictional character in a movie that we haven't even seen yet. I bet she will do fabulous and then all those horrible people can shove off.

Like hello Katie is just the actress that plays Cho, If you don’t like Cho that’s fine but you have no reason to hate Katie!! She is as we all know just doing her job, and I for one would love her job!!!
