Harry Potter author JK Rowling will read
from her latest book, Half-Blood Prince, at the stroke of midnight July 16, the book's release date, in Edinburgh Castle. It will be broadcast around the world on television and radio, according
to CBBC Newsround.
Attending will be 70 "cub" reporters -- from age eight to 16 -- who won competitions from newspapers around the world. Each will receive a signed copy of the book. The event is dubbed the "Harry Potter Children's Press Conference."
The kids will have a chance to read the book in a special room of Edinburgh Castle before visiting with Jo again on Sunday to ask questions ("grill me," Rowling said in her announcement).
Later that weekend, Rowling will be interviewed by Melissa and Emerson, of fan sites The Leaky Cauldron
and MuggleNet
, respectively. (TLC was also awarded JK Rowling's latest Fan Site Award
, so congratulations to them!)
Finally, the FAQ section
of Rowling's web site was updated with more questions and answers.

I'm definitely going to watch. I hope I don't need a sattelite dish or cable. I won't be getting the book on the stroke of midnight, so I guess I'll stay tuned.
This is sooooo awesome!!!

I wonder if she'll read from the begining or her favorite section of the book. Just hearing her inflections and how she reads it would be interesting to hear to see if she gives anything any emphasis.
But I'm stuck in Oklahoma so the best I can do is go to WalMart with my little pre-order card and pick up my copy at midnight and see how many hours it takes me to nonstop read it to the end just to be SO upset that the next one isn't out yet. There's always the next movie. (Which by the way, if there are any more character changes I'm going to freak, Contract Smontract! Keep the kids you have. And quit messing with the Charms Teacher's looks!!

RATS!!! Why ain't I one of those kids? I want to listen to JK reading and I want a signed copy of the book. Lucky ones those kids are. I guess I'll have to ehar it on the radio or watch it on TV and I don't care if my parents think "it's too late for that". It's Harry Potter and NOTHING gets in the way when it comes to him.

Man, those "cub" reporter people are so lucky! I'd give a lot to go to that conference at Edinburgh Castle. It better be televised; I'm sure there'll be lots of good questions that she'll have to answer.
Only sixty-three more days! Yay!

aaaah, I sense evil in me, the dark side is growing. I envy those kids for being there, at Edinburgh castle with J.K. Rowling reading the book. Where were these newspaper articles?, I never came across any of them. Then to top it all of, they get to read the book ( signed by J.K.R herself) before us and then get to meet J.K.R and ask questions,I wouldn't have made it anyway, they wouldn't want an almost 18 guy with little kids. But, it's my destiny, ahhh, join me. Don't forget to watch Star Wars III out on May 19th. And congrats to TLC and MN.

Oh my gosh!! I would love to be one of those kids. They are so lucky, reading it, signed copies, and the chance to "grill" JK. Man, I wish I was with them.
Plus, we have many updates on her website. Could Friday the 13th get any better?!?

Excelent news. I wish I could be there to hear her read from the book, but alas no. It will be interesting to hear what she has to say on the book when she answers questions as well.

They deserve to go...they have done so much for the Harry Potter fan community to keep us up-to-date on everything connected to Harry Potter.
And Edinburgh castle is SO cool. I remember celebrating New Year's Eve in Edinburgh so I know that they'll have a good time!

Yeah I had read about that in Mugglenet that Emerson had gotten the call from Jo herself, that must of been really cool. That is so nice of her to read from her own book to all those people, whoo Jo is the best.
