Tabloid UK newspapers The Sun
and The Daily Mirror
talk about their involvement in yesterday's reported theft of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the ensuing events:
The Daily Mirror says they were "approached by a security guard who worked at a distribution warehouse. Burly Aarron Lambert, 19, demanded £30,000 for a sneak look" at the book. The Sun claimed the theif (who they name as Arun) wanted £50,000 and that a gun was fired during their clandestine meeting.
And [Lambert] was soon boasting how he had evaded massive security. "It was very hard," he said. "They've even got foreign contract workers in there so the staff don't know what it's all about. The whole warehouse is on camera - I had to be really careful. I planned it for weeks. They're doing everything they can to stop people getting hold of it. But they couldn't stop me."
With much thanks to DanRadcliffe.com
, we have scans of everything:
Police confirmed last night that Lambert and his 37-year-old accomplice (pictured in that last photo) had been arrested.
JK Rowling has obtained a court order aimed at preventing the men from divulging any content of the book before its release.

That guy sounded soooo arrogant! I'm glad he got caught! He was first attempting to exploit HP and then boosted about stealing the book. What a jerk!

Its times like these i loose faith in the human race..
If a gun was involved, were they willing to kill someone, just because they could get money for stealing a book that brings a little joy into peoples lives?
Shame, shame.

Why would people even attempt to try and steal these books? I mean it is coming out next month and with all the security you would think these people know they would get caught.

It's the stupidity of the whole thing that surprises me. Did the men really think that with all of the security surrounding the entire publishing process that they wouldn't, or couldn't, be tracked down by JKR (or someone who works for her) once the information from the book was leaked? I'm mean seriously, it would mean a huge lawsuit, and I sincerely doubt that anyone would go to jail to protect those guys.

That is so crazy. I mean we all have waited many months to get the books and now it's only just a little over a month away and now people are gonna stel the book. They are truly insane I tell you. I wouldn't go bragging about stealing something either.

Emma's true fan and lover says:
That Aaron guy is rightful to be proud of being able to pull out such a stunt, but he tried to mess with the wrong people. We're talking wizards and witches here, not the common muggles. Anyway, I suggest that the books be guarded by proffessionals, not 19 year old nitwits. And that the guards themselves should be searched everyday after their routines. If he had been able to sell the stolen copy, and if it wasn't for the reporter who met with Aaron, J.K.R's 13 year work would have gone down the drain, and like I said it before, Half Blood Prince would never get to be officially released.
I think we should all, as the HP fan community, give the security guards, the honest ones, and the newspaper reporters a big hand. clap, clap, clap, clap.
Thanks guys.

Thats fricken hilarious that they brought guns!!! I know this is the most wanted book in the world and all but lets face it, its still a book and there are 10,799,999 books out there just like it. HBP is obviously huge or it wouldn't be worth the guns. Its as if they were in a big drug hiest or a big laser thingy that could blow up the sun or something!!!

This is stupid,I think that he should be banned from ever reading another Harry Potter book, this person has no honor or sense of decency. How desperate does someone have to be to want to steal someone else's masterpieces.

I can't believe this would happen, even a gun!! My goodness, It figures that the one who stole it was just a 19 year old who thinks he's invincible...grow up mr thief, we get the book for 20-30 bucks in a month or so, much cheaper than 30-50 thousand pounds!

Wow. Maybe it's just me, but this seems to be getting way out of hand. I'm just glad that these people were caught, and that the people working for the newspaper, and trying to ensure the safety of the plot of HBP weren't hurt. Personally, I am very glad that nothing was leaked, and i really hope that it will stay that way until i have that book in my hands.
Cheers *S*

'Tis a sad, sad world we're living in. To actually have someone stupid enough to risk breaking his neck for an advanced copy and people foolish enough to actually pay thousands of pounds for it. Now, [/i]that[/i] is extreme.

Out to make a fast buck and it's come back to bit them on the bum. They shoulda known. Anything like that could make a newspaper liable and after all the Brouhaha with OotP no newspaper is going to want a part of it.

That's terrible. Why would you do something like that? As big as this book is you know there is going to be security over every square inch of the warehouse! Whoever that dude is deserves to be caught! And shame on the reporters for not immediately going to the police!!

That would be the hardest thing ever!! He better not let anyone know what happens, or he will be in even bigger trouble!

Wow...what a guy! I am appaled at what he did but I would be lying if I said that I wouldn't try to get my hands on an early copy of the book if the ooportunity arose, then again I suppose that would take all the suspense and anticipation out of it.

This guy doesn't look as if he can even read!! and he's in this purely for the money. I think it is so sad that because we are all so mad about HP, people like him and the papers try to cash in on it. Thank goodness no one was hurt and no leaks happened, as hard as it is to wait until next month I wouldn't want to find out that way.
