Scholastic announced
earlier this month that a boxed set of the first six Harry Potter novels -- from Sorcerer's Stone to Half-Blood Prince -- will hit shelves in October.
The retail price will be $158.94 and the ISBN is 0-439-82760-4. Booksellers will likely provide discounts off the retail price. Amazon.com is already accepting pre-orders
at about $100.

$160.That's a lot of money especially for a person who doesn't have a job.
But I guess you're getting your moneys worth. All 6 books - hard-cover even plus a stylish, blue Harry Potter bookmark!
If only, if only.

I really want it - I guess I'm just harry potter obsessed. But at the same time they'll do it again with book 7 so, even though I have all the books, I do want the full box when 7 comes out and see who wants my other books(silly right?).

Hey, that'd be pretty cool to have. Though chances are, I'm going to wait until the seventh book is out. But I'd love to own a box set, since my copies now are pretty much falling apart. :P

If you were to collect all of the box sets that they have and probably will come out with, you will have to buy another house just to make room for all the duplicate copies of HP that you have! A collectors dream and worst nightmare!

Hmm, it does seem like a waste of money to buy it when the seventh one will be out. My parents got me the first four books in paperback boxed set a couple of years ago and then I bought the fifth one in hard cover. Maybe I'll buy buy the finished series in a boxed set for my unborn children. ;)

Oh, how lovely. A boxed set. Really pricey, though, of course. It's a good idea for people who have either not read any of the books or lost them. Thank goodness I have never lost one of my Harry Potter books. It'd be hard to, seeing as they are the biggest books I own. Most of the books I read only ave 200 or 300 pages. I think I would be a disgrace to J.K. if I finished her new book in one day, so I'll try my hardest to spread it over the course of two weeks. Any longer than that and I've wasted away my holiday. Then again, time does tend to fly when you're enjoying a great novel with suspense filled situations and so on. I bet when I get back to school everyone will be toting them around in their rucksacks. I should play a water game, where every time I see someone with a Half-Blood Prince book I drink a bottle of water. I'd have to be dashing to the water fountains and loos constantly, I expect. Hahaha.

Hmmm...I think I will wait until all seven are out to get a boxed set...
It just seems pointless to have a set that has all but one book...
I dunno...

Yeah, I'm with everyone that it seems silly to buy the box set now, when we are (almost) one book away from having the complete series. I will probably buy the box set when it comes out after #7 for my son, who will still be too young to read the books on his own then, but will be happy to have a beautiful new set when the time comes. I did buy the 5 book set for my brother as a Christmas gift because *gasp* he hadn't read any of the books yet!

Yes well, since I have bought each book both British and American, I think I can hold out. It would make a nice gift when the entire set comes out as a keepsake or collection for my 6 year old-In other words, he ain't getting my books, I am not sharing! It would make a great gift for anyone just getting into the books!

I would not really need the box set. I have all the books except the 6th of course. But if I didn't have all the books it would be nice to have the box set. They seem sort of pricey to me anyway. I could go out and buy them separately for alot less.

I agree, I'm definately waiting to buy another box set of the books. My husband bought my the adult hardback ones and I've bought the scholastic paperbacks, so I figure I'll just wait until the series is completed to start buying up the various sets.

I already own all of the books (so far) in hardcover. But maybe they will release a special edition boxed set after all of the books are out. I can't wait to add one more to the collection!

I don´t know if it´s a good idea. All of us (or almost all of us) have the books (and will have the next), so I´m not going to buying them ( I don´t earn so much money).
I think the new readers have found a great oportunity, but for old ones...

I don't realy see the point of buying a box-set of the books if you have them all anyway.
But if you want to buy all of them at once then I suppose a box set is a very good idea.
I'd wait until all the books have been written before I'd buy a box-set though.
