Scholastic announced
earlier this month that a boxed set of the first six Harry Potter novels -- from Sorcerer's Stone to Half-Blood Prince -- will hit shelves in October.
The retail price will be $158.94 and the ISBN is 0-439-82760-4. Booksellers will likely provide discounts off the retail price. Amazon.com is already accepting pre-orders
at about $100.

I would love a box set but I am going to wait till all the books are out then get it. I'll have two sets of books, but that is ok with me :)

I'll buy a boxed set when all books are released, and when the price is lower. Is this a UK or US edition? I don't like the illustration for OoP. I quite miss the phoenix, very well drawn and more representative of the story, which is drawn on the English edition

This is a great way for new potter fans to get all caught up on their reading! I may replace my existing ragged books, but probably not until after all 7 books are out.

I agree with several others - I'm waiting for all 7 to be released, and then I'll try to get the British version - especially for Philosopher's Stone, that one got "Americanized" way too much. I mean, it's just not right, seeing Fred and George say "Mom" instead of "Mum"... ;-) Or maybe if I hit the lottery I can get the deluxe editions - I love the artwork for the HBP one!

That's great, but I'm not gonna buy it, I already have the first five books, annotated, underlined and revised during my multiple re-re-readings...
Maybe I'll wait till book 7 appears and then I'll buy the WHOLE set, but I will also keep the old books! :)

I really need to get this, if they are all going to be hardback. My paperbacks have certainly seen better days. OotP is falling apart!

I would like to buy the boxed set when all of the books are finished, I have some hard backs, and some paper backs, so it would be nice to just have a complete set of one thing! :) Hopefully the 7th book comes out fast so I don't have to wait too long!

That is a great price, but why would anyone buy it just one book short of the complete set? I will wait for the 7th book, then buy it.

When I read the begining of this, I thought, "Wow! I'm gonna get that instead of the sixth book." But then I saw the price! That's a wonderful thing, but I really do think that the prices are a bit drastic!

Very nice, but I already have Harry Potter books 1-5. (Actually 2 copies of book 5: hard and paperbacks.) It will be nice for new Harry Potter fans, or even people who would like to have it, just to say they have it!
It does look really cool, though. If I didn't have the rest of them I would get that.

The box set would be nice to have, but I think I'll wait until book 7 comes out, then get the set with all 7 books. Then try to get the brittish editions, and any other language they have been printed in.

Well I've already got the first 5, so there's not much point me buying them again! I might buy them all as a set when HP7 comes out.

I think that it is knid of pointless for anyone to buy a box set now, unless of course they are new fans to the HP series. I already have read all the books more than three times and I have about one or two copies of each book already.

I already have the boxed set of four so I will not be purchasing that;however,if there is someone that only has read the paperback or got the book at the libary then it would be a good purchase. If you are that much of a dyed-in-the-wool fan then it is a good purchase for you.

Isn't that convenient that they wouldn't show the picture of the Half-Blood Prince! I wouldn't have to buy that though, I already have a hardcover and paperback of 4 and 5 and of course the rest of them in hardcover!
