Jason Isaacs, who portrays Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, is becoming more like his character he says. In an effort to remain in character he avoids answering his fan mail, he also comments that he’s enjoyed playing Lucius and that he hopes that he will be in the next movie and that author Rowling continues to write Harry Potter books for years to come.
I'm carefully cultivating an entire generation of people who despise me, because when you're in 'Harry Potter' films you get a lot of fan mail... I haven't answered any of it, so they will hate me even more than they did to start with. They probably spent their pocket money sending me a stamped, addressed envelope. Number four is finished. I'm not signed up for number five; I haven't got a script for [it] yet, but I understand I have some things to do in the book and, if they ask me, then I would be hoping to be in it. Because that is good fun, it's ridiculously good fun to dress up as a wizard ... I hope that [JK Rowling] writes it until Harry Potter is 65 years old and on a walking frame.

And might i add, he is attractive and his sense of humor makes him even moreso...He's the only person i could imagine being Lucius. You know someone is very in to their character when they bring his personality into their own life. I'm sure it does help to strengthen the dislike for Lucius Malfoy, but I doubt not answering fan mail helps that much more. I know I hated Lucius Malfoy long before I read this article.

Now I can understand if he doesn't have time but it isn't very nice if he purposely doesn't answer.
Oh, the things acters will do to stay in character.
I hope he will be in the 5th,6th and 7th movie just because he does such a great job of playing Lucius Malfoy.

I liked Jason Issacs before but now I like him even more. It is so funny to me that he is cultivating this whole image of himself just to help the characters in the movie seem more real to kids. I love it!

He is a very brave guy for doing it! Not many actors/actresses would go that far to develop a persona for their character (or so it seems anyway!) and I'd imagine it takes guts to do that. When I first read this I thought he was just being mean and truly couldn't be bothered, but then I thought it through and I can now see his point of view and his reasons for doing it. Good on him!!

Sounds like he was well cast for the role of Lucius Malfoy. Doesn't seem like he reads the books, only the scripts. I think that the least anyone fortunate enough to actually BE in the movies ought to read the books.
