Jason Isaacs, who portrays Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, is becoming more like his character he says. In an effort to remain in character he avoids answering his fan mail, he also comments that he’s enjoyed playing Lucius and that he hopes that he will be in the next movie and that author Rowling continues to write Harry Potter books for years to come.
I'm carefully cultivating an entire generation of people who despise me, because when you're in 'Harry Potter' films you get a lot of fan mail... I haven't answered any of it, so they will hate me even more than they did to start with. They probably spent their pocket money sending me a stamped, addressed envelope. Number four is finished. I'm not signed up for number five; I haven't got a script for [it] yet, but I understand I have some things to do in the book and, if they ask me, then I would be hoping to be in it. Because that is good fun, it's ridiculously good fun to dress up as a wizard ... I hope that [JK Rowling] writes it until Harry Potter is 65 years old and on a walking frame.

Lucius Malfoy makes my blood boil! I'm not sure about not answering the fan mail, but I like this guy. It'd be fun to see him outside of the roll on camera.

P.S. I don't like his CHARACTER in the books, I only like HIS acting. To me it'd be a relief when JK atlast would someday mention that Lucious is dead.

Jason is wonderful as Lucius, i cant imagine anyone else fit for the job! He sounds like such a nice guy too! I don't think its rude at all, if he wants to stay in character then more power to him!

You know I've been told that a sign of a good actor is one who can evoke so much emotion, whether hate or otherwise, that you truly love them or hate them. Jason Issacs plays a great bad guy (i.e. The Patriot and Harry Potter as Lucius Malfoy) and in Harry Potter, he does make me hate him when in character and that shows how good of an actor he is. Keep up the good work!

I think he is just being lazy and is using this as an excuse so he doesn't have to feel guilty about not replying to fan mail. It has nothing to do with keeping in character, just plain laziness.
