According to a report on Bad Taste, the first screening
of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is scheduled to take place in Chicago, IL this Saturday (July 9th). It may be possible for the general public to get tickets to the event & I suggest (if you can) you place a few calls to the local AMC theaters to see if that is possible.
Babel Fish translation of the article:
The post-production is still in course, in particular as far as the special effects, and the assembly will not be that definitive one... But some watching lucky people will be able to assist to one special projection of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this Saturday, that is between 48 hours.
The test screening is a practical one accustoms them of the production houses, than they use it as a system in order "sondare the land" and to assess that the public appreciates the relative choices to the scenario, the recitazione and the assembly of the film. The spectators receive a module to compile with their impressions, and before the projection a responsible of the production house perceives that the film still is not completed, and that not there will be definitive the sonorous column neither the special effects. Insomma, one "crude" version of the film, a work in progress sure still imperfect, but perhaps just for this still more moving! And for we, than we are not therefore fortunate from being able to assist to the projection?
It is expectable that in the immediately successive hours to the screening some book reviews appear on Internet, probably rich of spoiler! We of Bad Taste will hold to you we inform to you...
We have asked for confirmation on this story but I'm not sure if we will hear anything, secrecy and all that. If you have a chance to see the movie please let us know and if we see any reports of the screening online we will be sure to bring them to you.

Why does everything have to happen in Illinois? First Spellbound and now this? Ah well that's too bad for me.

I would LOVE to see the screening. But it would be impossible [my folks wouldn't let me attend a concert in Baltimore, Maryland (the state I live in) so there's NO WAY I'll get to go to Chicago]. COngrats to all those who get to go. But I would rather get to meet Danial Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson then go to the screening, but niether will happen. Lucky people.

Uh... did anyone else find that confusing to read? Somehow, I don't think I'd want to view the movie before it's completely edited and put together. Maybe a different movie, but not HP.
Cheers!

Did anyone else have a hard time understanding what in the world this article was saying? Was it originally written in a different language or something?

Of course it will be a secret! Well, I antsy to see it, but if it's just like the other Potter movies now, I don't think it's worth. I kinda hope that we would see another great movie in Azkaban, but it's just the same. Kinda bored (there, I've said that. I'm a big fan of JK, not those movies crews.). I hope with that new director and new screenwriter in OotP, the movie will turn out to be a great one. But I won't put my hope too high.

Wow sounds great but honestly I think most fans would be dissapointed in seeing the work in progress. I was a film student so I can appreciate the rough footage but for most audience members and kids I think it best for them to wait untill the final product is released in theaters (even though I know it is hard to wait).

Finally the light at the end of Goblet's tunnel is starting to appear. On a side note, I think there should be a translation to the translation that was given. Maybe there is more info. hidden in that paragraph than meets the eye!

Too bad I'm not one of those fortunate few who will be able to see. Those living around Chicago sure are lucky, they have the screening, and the huge HP release party this Saturday. The movie sounds awesome.

That is sooo great!
But....why chicago? why not L.A.? or...other places around the world. It's not really fair to confine all the fun parties and events to chicago....is it? i mean there are like 60 languages that harry potter is printed in.....that mean there has to be at least 60 or 70 countries who have fans just like us. Why can't chicago share the love?
