In a story reported on earlier we posted that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was given a PG-13 MPAA rating in the U.S. This has now been confirmed by Warner Bros.
This is the highest rating
so far for any Harry Potter movie due to sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.

Haha!! PG-13!! Oh, well. In Canada it will still end up being PG. But it doesn't surprise me considering what Harry has to face in the book.

I knew it was going to be rated as PG-13. The scenes are just getting more mature for the young ones.

There are ways that it is better to be PG-13 and others that it's not. It is better cause olders kids will want to go see it more, but the kids want. The kids can see it with a parent though.

I'm glad that it's PG-13.. It's absolutely right to have that rating for GoF.. The story's getting darker now so it figures..

Well all I can say is Thank Frig for that! Its about dam time an age restrction ws put on these films. The last 3 I went to see in the cinema were all spoiled by a bunch of 6 or 7 year olds talking and asking questions loudly the whole way through the film!!!
If there are any parents out there reading this, I beg you PLease dont bring you're younger kids to the cinema unless they've got masking tape across there mouth and are chained to the seat!

I don't know about this PG-13 thing. It's really going to limit the younger viewership. Parents aren't going to be as pressed to take their children which equals less money. Which equals...well...I don't know...it's too early.

PG-13 is right on for this movie. I didn't think Fantastic Four should have been PG-13, but definitely ROTS and Batman Begins. It is going to be the best! I can't wait to see Voldemort.

Yay!! PG-13!!
That sounds really great!!
Lesser little kids in cinema, who are pretty annoying, or just more parents.

I knew it would get a PG-13 rating!! There was no way that they could keep it PG!! It's going to be too scary and stuff for the little kids for it not to be!!

I like the PG-13 rating, they should not downplay the movie down just for little kids. The books get more mature as Harry grows up so should the movies.

I think that this rating seems appropriate, each book seems to get darker and darker and so it wouldn't be doing the story any justice if the movies didn't continue to depict it that way.

Well, Harry is getting older and his experiences are getting more intense so of course as the story goes on it will become more intense and get a higher rating, look at this last book HBP, that is really intense and in way isn't good for very young children.

I'm totally not surprised with what the Goblet of Fire is going to have in it. This was going to happen sometime, and I'm glad that it is with the Goblet of Fire becuse of the very dark content.

Hey, I think a pg-13 rating is good. i didn't want it to be to kiddy and watered down. It should be pretty good, because there is some violence but that is part of the storyline, and you can't change it.

Well, of course it has a PG-13 rating. The books are very much darker from 4 on. I don't think it will keep anyone away. Maybe people with really young kids who are just getting into Harry Potter. I'll be taking mine to see it, they've already read the book. Bad mom, bad mom, bad mom (but what fun!).

PG-13! thats cool. its not that surpring now that steven speilberg is dierecting. the magic trio is getting old, they can't play in little kidde movies anymore, speilberg thinks so to, he added some more violence than the book, more adventure and some adultish stuff. the trio is on there magic ride to adulthood!

The loud kids will still be there but it brings the parents into the movie with them which is good. I don't know if the parents will keep the kids quiet but it's good to get the family involed with the whole Potter experience.

Heh...
Well, in the movie, Harry is fourteen, so he's gonna be doing fourteen year old stuff. Okay, that made no sense...
Well, of course. You can't just have any small child going in and seeing that graveyeard scene. I mean, it was creepy just to read it - imagine a five year old seeing it. I'm not saying that some children can't handle it, because you have some that are much braver than I am (and that's not really saying much, but anyway...)
However, little children can still watch the movie - with parental guidance, of course. Also, I'm sure many people would mind if they messed up the whole movie just so it can have a PG rating, right?

hey i'm really glad to hear that, it's very dark and merits the warning that comes with that rating. i hope everyone who wants to gets to see it, but only if they are mature enough to do so safely.

I don't think it will hurt box office sales.
Kids old enough to have seen the first two movies must be pretty much 13 years old by now anyway!
