Music composer Patrick Doyle
, who is currently working on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comments on being lucky to be chosen to score the movie, the amount of work it has been, his favorite scores and his battle with leukemia.
Doyle on working on the score:
You have to be at the top of your game all the time to keep on top of it. I read the script before they started shooting. My involvement has gone on for a year, and I've written zillions of themes for it. People who have read the book will know that it is very dense in terms of its storyline, and all of the imagery is very big.
Doyle has previously worked with director Mike Newell
on Donnie Brasco and Into the West and will start work on Eragon next year.

Those "Harry" themes like Hedwig's Theme and Harry's Wondrous World just have to be there.
It just won't be the same without it.
Can you imagine the Lord of the Rings films without the Hobbit's theme?
Music is so important to a film.

Yay! I can't wait for Eragon to come out! I still haven't finished the book though...:( I'd better get reading. I hope the new composer's music is as good or better than John William's in PoA. I hope....

Patrick Doyle (I am convinced) will do much to make the soundtrack all of what we expected and more. Of course, it will be different, but it will be amazing. I cannot wait.

I'm really excited and ready to hear the finished product. John Williams put such a strong stamp on the first three movies, I'm curious to know how the story is perceived by a different composer.

It'll be interesting to see if the music by Patrick Doyle will be different than the music by John Williams. I'm buying the soundtrack anyways!

Wow, I haven't been commenting in ages, just had time to read the topics - but this article really got me - what have I missed?
I got the impression that John Williams was doing GOF too, what made them change the original plan?
I dont't know many of the soundtracks Doyle did (looked them up on the internet), but I'm convinced he's good, or else Warner Bros. hadn't choosen him.
I agree with everyone who said he or she will expect the main themes to be there - "Harry's wondrous world", "Hedwig's theme" or "Lumos".
Am really interested if in HBP (whenever it will be released) the Fawke's song will appear...
Hah, and I idiot was scanning amazon the last weeks if the soundtrack of Gof by Williams was already available, for I love the soundtracks. Okay, now I know what to search for.

Patrick Doyle is an extraordinary composer! He is able to capture a time and a place so beautifully, so skillfully in his work. I've heard his music for Sense & Sensibility, for Henry V, and for Much Ado About Nothing. In fact, I've probably heard a lot more of his music but not necessarily realized it. This was a great article to read about him. We rarely get such good info in the States about European composers.

The music playing over the new teaser trailer is fab.
The music needs to be great to keep up with whats going on in the film and he has a lot to live up to because the music in the first three films was amazing!

From the teaser and inter. trailer, the music sounds pretty awesome, a lot better than the stuff in the first three movies. The music this time sounds more mature and kind of sorrowful. I think it should suit GoF well or at least I hope so.

What?
When did they change the music composer? I loved what John Williams did! His music was so beautiful...I could listen to it for hours. I was kinda wondering when I heard the music in the teaser trailers and sneak peeks - it was so different. Sad that he's battling leukemia - I hope he does a great job.

Well I'm sure he'll do a great job, but it will be hard to top the music in POA, the soundtrack is amazing. For me it was the best part of the entire movie. It just blows me away everytime I listen to it!

What? Why would they change composers? John Williams is a LEGEND! He did all the Star Wars movies, and so many more the list goes on forever and they're all awsome. He did such a good job, unreplacable! Not to say that the new guy isn't any good because I heard some of it on the preview and it sounds ok, but come on Williams is one of a kind. For me he brought the HP movies to life especially with the opening music-Awsome.
