Doyle at the top of his game when working on Potter Popular (6518)

Music composer Patrick Doyleopens in new window, who is currently working on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comments on being lucky to be chosen to score the movie, the amount of work it has been, his favorite scores and his battle with leukemia.

Doyle on working on the score:

You have to be at the top of your game all the time to keep on top of it. I read the script before they started shooting. My involvement has gone on for a year, and I've written zillions of themes for it. People who have read the book will know that it is very dense in terms of its storyline, and all of the imagery is very big.

Doyle has previously worked with director Mike Newellopens in new window on Donnie Brasco and Into the West and will start work on Eragon next year.

I hope he retains the main theme, but elaborates on it in his own way. It would be hard to imagine a Harry Potter movie without that theme.

Mr Doyle has some pretty large shoes to fill in the writing of this movie score. John Williams was outstanding.

John Williams is everybody's favorite. Hopefully the new guy will be just as good though. I can see how John Williams might get bored trying to do seven similar movies. Change is good.

Wow, I had no idea that they had changed the music composer for GoF. I have never heard of Patrick Doyle's work, so I hope it will be just as great as Williams' has been for the past three movies. I'm anxious to see what he has come up with! :)

Anyways, *cough* pardon that! I sure hope Patrick Doyle does a good job on the music! I was really quite upset when I found out that John Williams wasn't doing the music for GoF. (speaking of, I just now got the PoA soundtrack, and John did a wonderful job on that too!)

Doyle has been working on the music for a year -- just tying up the loose ends I guess and putting on the finishing touches!
I didn't know Eragon was going to be a movie, either.

I'm really anxious for The Goblet of Fire! Sorry they're having to cut so much stuff out.

The trailers sound good, I agree -- and I always love the music and soundtracks to HP. I'll have to get this one too. They really help to build the moods and the tension and everything. It's hard sometime to realize just how much a soundtrack and the music does.
