Doyle at the top of his game when working on Potter

Doyle at the top of his game when working on Potter Popular (6522)

Music composer Patrick Doyleopens in new window, who is currently working on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comments on being lucky to be chosen to score the movie, the amount of work it has been, his favorite scores and his battle with leukemia.

Doyle on working on the score:

You have to be at the top of your game all the time to keep on top of it. I read the script before they started shooting. My involvement has gone on for a year, and I've written zillions of themes for it. People who have read the book will know that it is very dense in terms of its storyline, and all of the imagery is very big.

Doyle has previously worked with director Mike Newellopens in new window on Donnie Brasco and Into the West and will start work on Eragon next year.

The trailers sound good, I agree -- and I always love the music and soundtracks to HP. I'll have to get this one too. They really help to build the moods and the tension and everything. It's hard sometime to realize just how much a soundtrack and the music does.

I hope Patrick does a good job, I think it is time that the Harry Potter series moves on and gets new composers to match the new theme of the movies, mature, dark, interesting.

He mentioned a different theme. Does that mean it's not the same harry potter theme song. or a different version of it.

Someone said something about hoping that they keep some of the original themes for the movie. On mugglenet, I believe it was, they have a download of a rock version of Hedwigs theme, it was really awesome. They should play that for the movie theme.

Oh I don't know the music in the trailer really doesnt have the HP vibe I know and love. John Williams did the music sooo well, thois new stuff seems a little wrong to me. The music sets the scene in a big way and if its not like Johns stuff then I think its not going to work.

Please let it be good

The interenational trailer music was apparently composed by:

John Sponsler and Tom Gire at http://www.magicboxmusic.com

We have yet to hear what Doyle will do. My guess and hope is that one or two original major themes will re-appear briefly in GoF and that Doyle's new music will be fantastic.

It's a fine work, now we can debate on news again. Cheers to the webmasters. So... John Williams is no longer working on Harry Potter? I liked his music a lot, yet I often have been deceived to realise that some music on the CD didn't feature in the movie. For example in PS, the "diagon alley" piece is really interesting, it illustrates the scene very well, with a medieval-like group, and in the movie we get something really common, not poor but not worth the CD. Same for the christas scene: why not including the choir? I have never heard Doyle's music. Which movies did he score?
