Podcasting, the act of recording audio and publishing it for use with Apple's iPod and other portable media devices, has hit the Harry Potter world by storm.
MuggleNet and The Leaky Cauldron have introduced MuggleCast
and PotterCast
, respectively. Each contain weekly roundups of Harry Potter news, with interviews, analysis and summaries of the latest hot topics. Both are unofficial, and not affiliated with Warner Bros. or JK Rowling.
In its debut show, The Leaky Cauldron interviewed Ginny Weasley actor Bonnie Wright and Harry Potter production designer Stuart Craig, among other features. MuggleNet is already on its second episode, and in less than two weeks, both shows have become some of the most subscribed-to and downloaded Podcasts on iTunes.
Each site offers help on how to access their shows on portable devices as well as a PC. Be sure to check them out!
UPDATE: You may be looking for this story instead, about the special-edition Harry Potter iPod and the official release of the Harry Potter audiobooks on iTunes. Incidentally, Steve Jobs mentioned the two podcasts above in his keynote address at Apple's press event on September 7.
