While Christopher Paolini's second novel, Eldest
, may have knocked Harry Potter down a notch on Amazon.com's bestseller list, Scholastic is ramping up to offer a boxed set of all six Potter books to date.
A new image of the set is available at Amazon:
It will cost about $100 and include hardcover editions packaged in an artwork-covered case. Amazon says it will be available October 1, as we reported in June.

I don't really see the point in buying the boxed set without all seven books, you know? But I'm sure there are tons of fans that will. More like, parents buying it for their kids for Christmas and whatnot. Still, it doesn't make sense to me. Ahh, it's just for money anyways, so what does it matter?

it's not especially good marketing to try and sell the set minus one... but anything to usurp the great usurper. i resent that christopher paulini's novels incorporate so much of what my uniquely tuned ear and eye interpret as lord of the rings... loaners. i don't appreciate the many attempts people make to unoriginally re-interpret great works of fantasy or science fiction. it is tragic that subject material is so short... (but you can read that sarcastically, material lacks only what creativity lends her not)

I don't really get why anybody would buy a boxed set of books 1-6. I guess maybe if you're giving it to a kid as a gift or something, but it still seems sort of odd. I mean, you know they'll sell the entire set together for the same price.
