While Christopher Paolini's second novel, Eldest
, may have knocked Harry Potter down a notch on Amazon.com's bestseller list
, Scholastic is ramping up to offer a boxed set of all six Potter books to date.
A new image of the set is available at Amazon:
It will cost about $100 and include hardcover editions packaged in an artwork-covered case. Amazon says it will be available October 1, as we reported in June.
Thanks to HarryLatino.com
for the tip.

I don't really get why anybody would buy a boxed set of books 1-6. I guess maybe if you're giving it to a kid as a gift or something, but it still seems sort of odd. I mean, you know they'll sell the entire set together for the same price.

It's nice, but a lot of people will have the 6 books already, or will wait until the seventh book comes out.

That's pretty cool and all, but I think it would be waste to go out and buy a whole new set until all 7 books come out.

I think it is great that they are coming out with these box sets, but I am going to wait till all the books are out to buy the complete box set. I cant see buying 3 just to get all the books together.

It's a pretty stupid idea to have all these box sets and they arn't complete. I won't but one because I already have the six books and I'll buy the 7th when it comes out. Thew box set is only good for those who haven't read the books and want to own them, but they should really wait if they want a box set.

Arrrgh! I am very happy that this is coming out, but I am angry that Christopher Paolini's book knocked HBP down the bestseller list. Especially because I don't like his books very much... Oh well.
I really do need to get new copies of all of the books (mine - even HBP - are falling apart, I read them so much) - perhaps this will be the best way to do it!

I should buy it, even though I have all six books except two in paper back, and four in hard cover, I think I shall wait til the seventh book comes out to buy the complete collectors editions/sets!

I won't be buying the box set for myself this time around, but I still know a few people who haven't read the books and could be getting it from me for Christmas! Haha!
I had no idea Paolini's book knocked HBP out of the number one spot on Amazon's bestseller list! Yow! I'm in no way responsible for that, at least!

If I was that interested in getting such a thing, it would 1) Not be from America. I do not need the 'dumbed down for non-british speakers' version as I have heard it dubbed, I would be getting mine from Canada where I can get a reprinting of the origional version.
and 2) not until the last one was out!
What exact point is there in a boxed set that doesn't even contain all of the set?

I want to get the whole boxed set too but i am going to wait until all the 7 books come out. It is getting more expensive every year. How can those dragon books bump Harry Potter down the best seller list. After I actually finished reading those books I thought they were to um what's the word.........snowflaky.......iif you know what I mean.

I like the way they look, but for $100 U.S., I want all seven books. I will buy the entire set, though. I have like half hard, half soft, covers.

Six Harry Potters for $100.00...isn't that just a tad expensive. Surely they could cut us a better deal when buying all six at once.
It doesn't matter though, I won't buy a full set until all seven are out.

$100 for 6 hardback books is good value for money I think? Not being American I have no idea how much a book costs over there.
I think they will produce a British version.
