While Christopher Paolini's second novel, Eldest
, may have knocked Harry Potter down a notch on Amazon.com's bestseller list
, Scholastic is ramping up to offer a boxed set of all six Potter books to date.
A new image of the set is available at Amazon:
It will cost about $100 and include hardcover editions packaged in an artwork-covered case. Amazon says it will be available October 1, as we reported in June.
Thanks to HarryLatino.com
for the tip.

I already have all the books on hardcover, and my parents wouldn't allow me to get extras...

Well the only one I own is HBP, so it would kindof be pointless if I bought it again, I'll have to buy all of the deluxe versions separately.

it would be cool to have but if I do buy a boxed set it will be when the series is done. That is only an if because I'll already have all the books in hardcover so its seems like a waste to buy them all again for the box

I Have 5 and six as hardcovers. I wonder whether they still have box sets for 1-4 and if so whether it would be cheaper to buy them separately or all together.

Deffinately the perfect addition to any Harry Potter fan's collection. Though it would be wise to wait for the whole set (though for anyone who hasn't been converted yet....)

What why have so many copies when you can just buy the 7th one and then have the whole set that is kinda weird.

Yeah I would buy them but I have four in paperback and two in hardcover so I'm just gonna do the secondhand thing to get the first four in hardcover unless when I put the complete set of seven on my Xmas list down the road when they're all out and if someone gets it me them all brand spankin' new then that'll be awesome. *smile* I find it easier to hold a paperback that's over 400 pages as opposed to a big ol' hardcover. Just my opinion.

I wonder how much of a market there really is for this stuff.
I know there will always be SOME new buyers, but don't a lot of people who want the books already own them?
I mostly have the hardcovers already anyway.

I probably buy one of the set but not until all seven books are out so i can have the whole collection together. It be great if I could get some autographs on them, but I'd rather not get my hopes up.

I like the idea of having al the books together in one set but I am going to wait to buy a set like that until the seventh book comes out.

I would love to buy it but I'm going to wait until all seven books come out...because otherwise you're just wasting your money. I think they will definately make money with this set because there are so many people that still haven't read Harry Potter but are starting out...this is the perfect thing.

I would love to own one of those. But like the rest of you, I think it would be better to wait for the seventh book to come out then buy it. And it's quite expensive. I'll have to start saving from now.

I'm decidedly waiting until after the seventh book is published before getting a set. No doubt there will be several sets available. It gets a little irritating to me, actually, to have a new edition or set show up everytime I turn around. Thus far I have kept with the original paperbacks and hardbacks, though I did buy the Latin, Gaelic, and Welsh versions of the first book.
What I am really waiting for is somebody to do deluxe versions of the DVDs where all footage is restored (as they did when they had their network premieres here in America), with director and cast commentaries, etc. I want something along the lines of the monster versions of the LotR DVD sets, or even the upmteenth 'new, special, even better than the last 12 versions' Matrix DVD.
I think the problem is that they are having to work so consistently on these movies that nobody has time to sit down and do commentaries, so I'm not anticipating anything better until the whole film series has finished.

Yeah I would want to get that but I want to wait ntil the seventh book comes out so that I can get the entire collectors editons and since I will already have a copy of all of the books so that one I will collect along with all of the other books in every language and cover that they ever and will ever make. That is one of my number one goals in life.

After all seven books are out I will buy the collector's set because it would be pointless to have the first six and not the seventh book. A much better deal is to wait until the seventh book is out.

You know, this reminds me a lot of DVD releases. First up is the hurried release. Then comes the special edition. Then comes the collector's edition. Then comes the super-deluxe collector's edition. And the last three always has things that you want in them, sometimes without overlap. It's just a way of making you buy the same thing over and over again. I can wait for HP. And maybe I won't need new books even then.
