In a brief interview to discuss
his new movie opening this week, The Constant Gardener, Ralph Fiennes discusses not knowing any thing about Harry Potter and how he got into his evil character.
So you've been cast as Lord Voldemort. Are you a Harry Potter fan? I can't claim to be a Harry Potter fan, certainly before. Now, I guess I'm in the family a bit. But I didn't know much about who he was, so I had to do my research…. I wasn't really familiar with the whole world of Harry Potter. But I'm now very familiar with Lord Voldemort because [in low, evil voice] I am Lord Voldemort.
How do you prepare for a character that's pure evil? It's the hardest thing in the world to play pure, pure evil. I still don't know what it is.
Did you study other evil characters? We just talked about different levels of psychotic madness in people when you don't quite know what someone's gonna do. They could do anything -- they could slash your throat, they could put their arm around you and offer to be your best friend, and the next thing you know they turn really nasty. That sort of terrifying thing you see and read about.

Welllll....... hmm, I wonder who casted Ralphy boy here, because from the sound of things, Ralph Fiennes hasn't even read the books yet. only knowledge based on the movies has helped him creat and develop his character. I really hope he pulls it off though! He also seems like he has a nice sense of humor! "I am Lord Voldemort" , he says in a deep laugh! HA HA. Any way I'm sure that there is nothing to worry about! I mean, I'm sure that Ralph Fiennes will be terrific as Voldy, if he isn't...well we'll have to fix taht won't we!

I have no fears about Ralph Fiennes' ability to pull off Voldemort. He is going to be amazingly frightening. Too bad he didn't have HBP when he was filming GoF, to use as research material for Voldemort's "motivations." I bet that would have made playing him much easier. It must be pretty tough to play someone who's 100% evil since you can't find an ounce of humanity to connect yourself to the role.

As soon as I found out he was cast as LV I said, "Well it will be rated PG-13."
That's how scary his onscreen presence is. He can up the rating all by himself with his evil sneer.

I have seen other interviews where pre-viewers have had concerns that GoF the movie departs from the book in serious ways -- ways that might impact the plot in future movies. But I haven't seen anything more detailed about those concerns.
Has anyone read anything about this?
It makes me a little nervous about the movie!

Anyway, like I said before, I think this guy is too sexy to play Voldemort, Voldy's supposed to be ugly and foul....
But, all I care now is that the movie comes out to be the BEST.
