Steve Jobs announced
today at an Apple press event in San Francisco that JK Rowling has signed an exclusive deal to make all six and the to-be-released final Harry Potter audiobooks available for purchase and download on iTunes, effective immediately.
Additionally, a special edition Harry Potter iPod will be made available featuring the Hogwarts school crest, designed by the author. Read all about it and see pictures of the new iPod at Apple's web site.
The news coincided with the release of iTunes 5.0 and an announcement that Madonna has given Apple permission to sell all of her music on the download service.

UPDATE: In less than 24 hours, the Harry Potter audiobooks have soared to the top of iTunes' charts. At the time of this writing, they have taken seven of the top 25 "most downloaded" spots, including #1, #3, #4 and #5.

I guess I just have to do this the old fashioned way, go to the store and buy it. I don't have an IPod and don't plan on buying one anytime soon. It is nice for those who have this device to have the books avalible to them.

AARRGHH!! A Harry Potter iPod??? That would be so totally completely cool if I didn't already have one. (And I bought mine just before the new models came out, which made me really mad.)
Oh well, my sister's asking for an iPod for Xmas, maybe I'll get her this one! But then, where am I going to find three hundred dollars? (Six hundred, if she wants the audio-book set as well.)

Mine is engraved on the back already with my full name and "Don't touch my iPod!!!" Maybe I'll just get a Harry Potter sticker to slap on the back...
Now, if like the U2 iPod it came already loaded, or with something cool like character photos or something, I might be willing to spring for it.
Maybe I'm just not a real fan...

am I the only one who feels just a little bit disgusted by the way they're advertising this thing? (obviously I haven't read all previous comments, so maybe I'm not the only one...) of course I would love one, but the way they've written on the Apple site almost puts me off... How much do you have to over-advertize the thing? pushing it on to massive HP-fans with a "You MUST have this!" when its something so expensive... Just a little bit sickening...
I'd love one, but even if I had that kind of money to spend on "stuff", I would just feel too bad spending it on one thing like that... I don't know, maybe regular iPods cost the same, I haven't got a clue, but it's just to much for me (morally as well as I haven't got the money...)
Me and Harry will both go without... (at least he didn't use to have money, and I think he would rather spend his gold on broomsticks... :P )
