'Goblet of Fire' trailer preview Popular (85577)

SEPTEMBER 12, 2005 at 9:44 PM

Source: HPANA

As we presented last year for Prisoner of Azkaban, we've got a new sneak peek at what to expect in the theatrical Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire trailer, hitting movie screens and online around September 16. Our sources say it's "the best Harry Potter trailer ever."

MAJOR SPOILER WARNING: Brand-new footage is described herein, so avoid if you don't want to know.

Here's a general synopsis of the 2 minute, 30 second long trailer in chronological order. It's by no means comprehensive nor an exact transcript:

Beauxbatons ship flies in

Durmstrang rises from the water

Voiceover: Dumbledore explains that Hogwarts will host two schools, and introduces them

(Harry spits out his juice when he sees the Beauxbatons girls – hilarious)

Harry asks Cho to the ball

Prof. McGonagall gives dance lessons – using Ron as her partner and asking him to place his hand on her waist – he gives a grossed out face and says, "Wha...?" – SO FUNNY

Overhead view of the Yule Ball

Viktor kisses Hermione's hand while one of the Patils asks, "Is that Hermione Granger with Viktor Krum?"

Ron accuses Hermione of fraternizing with the enemy

Dumbledore explains the Triwizard Tournament

The Champion selection (Viktor, then Fleur, Cedric then Harry... shows different people's reactions when Harry's name is called...)

Harry yells at Ron, claiming he didn't put his name in there and he doesn't even want to be a part of the tournament

DADA class with Mad-Eye demonstrating the killing curse on a spider

Shots of the actual Triwizard Tournament

Harry exclaims how his scar is hurting

Shots and voiceovers about the rise of the Dark Lord

Flashes of MANY different scenes: the burning of the tents at the Quidditch World Cup, the Mermaids for the Triwizard tournament, and at one point, Sirius's face in the fireplace embers

Ends with the title and Hermione's voiceover saying everything's going to change

UPDATE: DanRadcliffe.com has postedopens in new window a summary of the trailer as well.

Lea says:

Oh, my God, it sounds GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to see ALL THE NEW SCENES: the Champions' selection, people's reaction when Harry is chosen, more scenes from the Tournament (I hope there will be some new ones - I mean others than those we've seen!), Durmstrang's ship raising from the lake (since I already saw Beauxbatons' carriage flying and it looked amazing!!), Harry asking Cho to the ball, Sirius's head in the fireplace, Harry yelling at Ron, Viktor Krum kissing Hermione's hand (!!!) and the Patil twins commenting (he,he!!), fake-Moody performing Avada-Kedavra on a spider ...and, of course, all those "shots and voiceovers about the rise of the Dark Lord"...!

But I must say I'M NOT SURE about that scene with Ron and McGonagall.... - I mean, first of all, "McGonagall giving DANCE-LESSONS"???? (could you picture that in your mind after reading the books?!?!?!) Then... of course the idea of her using Ron as a partner would be HILARIOUS in itself =D .....but WHY does he have to "gross out"???!!! --for Merlin's sake, it's Professor McGonagall, not Umbridge!!!!!!

And here's another thing that I really don't understand AND DON'T APPROVE AT ALL: why does Harry spit his juice when seeing the Beauxbatons girls????!?!?! -RON is the one acting silly in front beautiful girls in general ...and veelas in particular..., while HARRY is (as I clearly remember from the book) QUITE IMMUNE to any feminine charm BUT CHO'S!!!

And, finally, just one more thing: why is Hermione saying that everything is going to change??? --in what context?? I can't remember this!....

Well, as always, when I'm excited about something I talk waaaay too much!!!... -and since I'm really very very excited about this........ SORRY!!

Great, rather than appeasing my insatiable "must see trailer NOW!" this has increased it. At least it's being released with a decent movie. I still haven't recovered from having to go see Scooby-Doo just to see the Chamber of Secrets trailer.

icabarburus says:

Wow, sounds very cool. I'm not overly fussed by the (apparent) change in the order of some of the script, it didn't bother me too much in POA.

I take each movie as being a movie in its own right and not compare them to the books. They do visualise the books wonderfully, but there are very few adaptions that follow the original book well.

They've stayed very faithful to the feel of books and the characters, so I'm happy.

Roll on December 1 (release date in Australia)...
