Last month we reported
that Warner Bros. had promised to fix an error that appeared in a released photo from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
The photo in question showed Harry standing in front of the Riddle’s headstone at the end of the film but with a glaring error in the name and date of the deceased.
Moviefone
has published a new picture of the same scene with the correction made.

Well that is good. I would have never noticed. It is probally good that all the people now see a blurry gravestone instead of a clear one.

I have to say I'm not surprised WB listened to the fans' outcry and fixed this, but I'm sure there will be other small things they didnt' catch that will later be attributed to 'artistic license'. It's hard for a production as big as this to get all the details right. They must be shaking in their boots a bit knowing that any mistake that makes it to the big screen will cause the fans to go wild!

Oh thank God, I can stop holding my breath : ) Well, at least that's one down from the inevitable three hundred continuity errors (or three million changes from the book). Honestly, this bugged me a little, but it wasn't exactly at the top of my list. I really don't care is the headstone says R.I.P. Peter Pettigrew, as long as I get to see it!

Of course they were going to fix this, if people noticed it months before the movie came out just think how bad it would be if they didn't do anything. I hope there aren't to many other mistakes.

I think this film will be great. They seem really trying to be as close to the canon as possible. The trailers show as much. Can't wait anymore.

How embarrassing, I didn't even notice! It's pretty obvious when you know!
And I've got the old one on my desktop, and the pics of the new one aren't in high enough resolution - they don't fit the desktop, and they're grainy. Guess I'm stuck with the incorrect one on my desktop!

The old one was better with "TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE" but the new one was just "TOM RIDDLE" and the new one looks a bit weird!!!

Sorry, I'm double-posting, I hit the post button before I added this:
"Actually if you double check the books. The name was correct in the first place only the date was wrong. In chamber of swecrets riddles ghost clearly says his name is tom marvolo riddle." (From a comment on the first page).
The bottom name on the headstone is Voldemort's father, his middle name wasn't Marvolo - Voldemort himself has the middle name Marvolo, named after his maternal grandfather - the headstone was indeed incorrect. The bottom name was erroneously referring to Voldemort himself, not his father.
Don't know why they changed the date, but I assume somewhere in the books JKR mentions his father's age or birthdate.

It doesn't say that LV's paternal grandfather was called Thomas - i guess they just stuck with the same name assuming that the family probably didn't have much imagination!

"Don't know why they changed the date, but I assume somewhere in the books JKR mentions his father's age or birthdate."
- I interpreted it that LV killed his father after he had graduated from Hogwarts. That leaves his father about 40 years old when he died, since LV would be in his late teens or early twenties. The old date, where Tom Riddle (LV father) was born in 1915 makes him only 33 years old when LV killed him, which would mean that he got his son at the early age of 16. A bit young, perhaps...

One more remark: I think the more correct birthyear for Tom Riddle would be 1910, but I guess it was more simple for WB to change only one digit, 1915 into 1905. Now Tom Riddle probaly got LV at the age of 26 which I think is a little bit to old. But it doesn't really matter! The horrible mistake "Marvolo" was corrected and that's the most important part.
