According to ContactMusic
, Imelda Staunton has been cast for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie. The Academy Award-nominated actress is reportedly going to portray Dolores Umbridge, a new professor sent to spy on Professor Dumbledore and to control Hogwarts school.
However, no official word has been released by Warner Brothers.

I don't know about her, I have never heard of her. They have to get someone who can do that role some justice because she was a real *itch. She was so mean to harry I can't to see here get whats coming to her. Even though thats probably a year or to away, I can wait.

I agree with Hazzafan1. I dont want her to play the part. She needs to look mean and have a toad face. She however looks way to nice. They might change it, they might not. I dont think that is going to be the fina decision on picking her. I hope this movie is going to be good too. Umbrige NEEDS to be mean. That is why everyone in the book hates her so badly.

OK.....not what I expected but surely they know what they're doing! She looks a bit younger than what I imagined and not half tough enough. Umbridge should be stern and scary looking!

Oh, this display pic is not a good one of her. Go to her link on IMDB and look at her photo gallery. Age her up a bit and she's spot on. She's got the very sweet face so she's quite good, actually. I can definitely see her...but I want them to FAT PACK the living daylights out of her. And make her hobbit-sized. *grin*

Well, Contact Music is (in)famously notorious for launching unverified rumors like this so I wouldn't make much of it just yet. Hadn't thought of Imelda Staunton for Umbridge but she would make an interesting choice, based on my admittedly limited exposure to her I do think she could pull it off.
