A little over two weeks ago we told you
that it was being reported that Imelda Staunton had been cast as Prof. Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, we are now getting reports that she has confirmed this on British TV show This Morning on ITV.
According to our tip:
Imelda Staunton was interviewed on ITV's This Morning talking about her current role in Nanny McPhee but also confirmed her upcoming role as Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She said that she would be starting filming next year, and is unsure how her 11-year-old daughter will feel about her playing Professor Umbridge; she is looking forward to playing a nasty character! She even gave us an inkling of the voice she may use while playing the part!
We are still waiting to receive official word from Warner Bros., but as soon as we do we will let you know.

Well, I think she's a bit prettier than the Umbrige I imagined. The one I had in mind had a face more similar to that of a toad's. Haha, well, I don't think any person could match the Umbridge I had in mind. God would never be so cruel!

Ohhh she looks like she could be real nasty when angry!! I have never really heard of her before but I am sure she will do justice to the character. Playing the bad guy is not the easiest thing in the world to do.

I imagined Umbridge as being as broad as she is tall, which Imelda Staunton is not. However, she is a good actress and can be given lots of padding.

We knew that this was a possibility. I'll have to go on Netflix and have them send me any films that she has been in so that I can get and idea of her. I don't think I've seen any films with her. Homework for me!

Oh my gosh, we have an Umbridge! I loved her in Vera Drake, i have never heard of her before, but after that movie, i began to like her. i think with the make-up, she can pass for a nasty Umbridge. i'm sure she'll get the character right, after all, she was nominated for an oscar.

I imagined umbridge to be a little more toadlike, since her description alway compared her to looking like a toad... Also, in the book she was described as being a little chunkier. But I guess she's pretty good for the part.

I'm not familliar with any of her work, but looking at her, it seems like she'll be great. That wasn't exactly how I pictured Umbridge in the books but it's pretty close. I think she was a good choice.
